When @citynewsto showed up, it really solidified to Leon and I that we had created something so unique! 🎥👑

When we created Crowning Our Daughters, we knew we were building something special. What we didn’t know was how many people would connect with the message that fathers matter.

Seeing CityNews take an interest in the event only reinforced what we’ve believed from the very beginning: when fathers are involved, present, engaged, and supported, families and communities are stronger because of it.

While this event was never exclusively for Black fathers, as the wife of a Black man and the daughter of a Black father, it was incredibly meaningful to see so many loving, present, intentional Black fathers in the room. Men who are showing up, doing the work, and actively investing in the lives of their children. Those stories deserve to be seen, celebrated, and shared.

It was equally beautiful to see fathers from different backgrounds come together, because at the end of the day, fatherhood, community, and connection transcend race. The brotherhood in that room was something special.

We’re overwhelmed by the support, the messages, the media attention, and the number of people already asking, “When’s the next one?”

Trust me, we’ve heard you. 👀

But for now, we’re taking a moment to rest, reflect, and thank God for what He has done. This event was built on faith, community, and a whole lot of prayer, and we’re so grateful for everyone who helped make it possible.

The first Crowning Our Daughters is in the books, but something tells me we’re only getting started. 👑💛

Happy Father’s Day to all the incredible fathers. 👑💛

This reel is so much more than an event recap. It’s the story of a man who inspired an entire movement simply by being the father God called him to be.

Crowning Our Daughters was born out of watching my husband love our girls well. Watching him show up. Watching him learn. Watching him lead. Watching him protect. Watching him become the kind of man our daughters can be proud of and the kind of husband I thank God for every day.

Leon, I am so proud of you.

You are an incredible father, a faithful husband, a protector, a friend, and a man who continues to grow in his faith and purpose. It has been beautiful watching you blossom into the man God created you to be, and I truly could not think of a better way to celebrate Father’s Day than by sharing highlights from the very first Crowning Our Daughters.

This event was created because I wanted you and other amazing men like you to have community. A space to connect, learn, laugh, be encouraged, and be celebrated.

None of this would have been possible without our incredible partners and sponsors. BREAKFAST TELEVISION, Y'ALL! 🤯📺👑

If you had told me a few months ago that a simple idea inspired by Leon doing our daughters' hair would lead to Breakfast Television, I probably wouldn't have believed you.

Crowning Our Daughters has truly been a labor of love and, more than anything, a walk of faith. There were so many moments where we simply had to trust God with the vision, trust Him with the people, trust Him with the resources, and trust Him with the outcome. We didn't know where this journey would lead, but we're so grateful for every door He has opened along the way.

Yesterday, we had the incredible opportunity to share the heart behind this initiative on Breakfast Television and talk about why fatherhood, community, and showing up for our daughters matters so much.

A huge thank you to the many sponsors, speakers, volunteers, partners, and supporters who believed in this vision and helped bring it to life. And a very special thank you to @loft11management! This opportunity would not have happened without your support, advocacy, and belief in what we're building, and for that we're incredibly grateful. 💛

This event may have started with one dad doing his daughter's hair, but it has become something so much bigger. And we're just getting started.

Growing up, many of us were taught to stay quiet when it came to our cycles. We were told to push through the pain, take some Advil, and put up with the mood shifts and confusion as if it was something to be ashamed of.

@theperiodlab & @betsycampos are working to change that. They are bringing menstrual health and mental health into the same conversation…giving language and clarity to experiences many of us were taught to ignore.

Shahaddah Jack & Monica Bancheri also joined the conversation, sharing their own personal reflections on the emotional depth and importance of this space.☀️💐
