Slice of life from my last month in Brasil 🇧🇷

Teaching and learning languages has really become my way of connecting with people and the world, and in this last chapter in Brasil, language learning became the glue that put together all of those experiences, and places and people. Lately I’ve been feeling blessed to have been born and raised in this place. Traveling and experiencing different places always makes me realize the infinite places and situations I could’ve been born into; and although my home and situation isn’t perfect, I’ve learned to be extremely grateful for it. Very rarely does a city give me that sense of awe and wander that is usually only reserved for the natural world. But Rio inspired those feelings. The only other time I felt that for a city was when I went to Medellín for thr first time. Rio is a city that seems to cling to the nooks and crannies of towering mountains and jungle and that wraps around the curve of the sea. It’s a city where you break your neck every 5 seconds because every other person you see on the street is the hottest human you have ever seen; a perfect fusion of European, African and indigenous traits. The lavish, colorful colonial buildings, contrasted against the jungle plants that line the streets recall a time when Rio was the capital of the Portuguese empire. This is one of those places that really does live up to the hype.

Slice of life Jan-Mar 2026 📍São Paulo, Brasil. 🇧🇷

Vou escrever em Português sem tradução, sei que vou cometer erros, mas para ver meu progresso e no futuro, olhar até atrais e ver tanto que melhorei.

O que começou como uma viagem se tornou novo capítulo da vida. Aprendendo português, morando no Brasil me deu muitas perspetivas novas. Conheci muitas pessoas legais e fiz muitas conexões.

Agora sinto que tenho uma base forte aqui no Brasil e na verdad tenho muito vontade para conhecer mais do Brasil.

Minha meta com o português foi conseguir um nível suficientemente alto para poder ensinar inglês a brasileiros e agora estou fazendo exactamente isso. Mas quero seguir melhorando e conseguir um nível B2 fluente.

Agradeço muito as pessoas que fizeram parte deste capítulo. Ainda falta um mês mas se sente como o fim de um capítulo porque meu melhor amigo se foi.
