Unicorn Melbourne Red E90 M3 Post Mortem (pt 1)

I first discovered this car in the heart of Covid 2020, on M3Post. Something inside me knew it was special, and I watched the for sale thread for a few weeks. I had never bought a car out of state before otherwise I'd have flown there and drove it home immediately. Someone else ended up buying it, and I bugged him for a couple years until he decided he wanted to sell it and asked me if I was interested.

So in April 2023 I drove up to NorCal with my wife in my Lemans Blue E90 335d to bring this very special E90 home. I got 2 thumbs up from passerbys just on the test drive, which was a good sign. The car drove wonderfully (save for the very tired engine mounts) and looked minty inside and out so I took it home.

As time went on, I learned this was a very carefully optioned car that was also Euro delivered and toured around Europe by the 1st owner. This explained the almost perfect option sheet and the unique exterior/interior which I'll post below, and also explained why @whistlemotors reached out to me looking to buy it after finding it in the Melbourne Red E90 M3 spreadsheet online. I'll list the specs below for anyone that read this far. :)

Once I had the car corner balanced on Ohlins with the square 18x10.5 Volks RE30's, the car weighed 3580 on @westendalignment 's scales, which is roughly 130-150 lbs more than the average E46 M3.

Got a chance to run some touge on the Snake with a legendary Mercedes Benz AMG 190E 2.3-16. This is the only time I have ever seen one of these out in the wild hitting canyons and this kid was ripping hard and driving the car well. Enjoy!

Just a little recap of the recent dyno/tune day...

Final numbers were 605 whp/578 wtq, which were backed up by 3 back to back runs (last pic). Car feels great and pulls smoothly and effortlessly, and can be beat on all day, track or street.
