Tucked between East London’s Broadway Market and Columbia Road, Logma feels less like a restaurant and more like an open living room, one that happens to serve some of the most talked about food in the city. Founders Ziad Halub and Farsin Rabiee began with late night dinner parties and a shared love of feeding people. What they built is a space where Iraqi and Iranian flavours meet British seasons, tradition is treated as a starting point rather than a constraint, and the point was always to share Head to the link in bio to read more #ELLEEgypt by @logmaldn
@logmaldn: Where everybody knows your name At the end of 2025, couple @ziadhalub and @farsin opened the doors to @logmaldn, their Iraqi-Iranian café in Hackney. While their sandwiches have gone viral, every Wednesday evening they return to the table for Logma Lates — a one-sitting dinner for just 18 guests at 7pm, built around good food, conversation and community. «The word community is being overused to the point of becoming meaningless.» Said Farsin Rabiee, founder and chef behind Iranian-Iraqi bistro Logma (@logmaldn) with his partner Ziad Halub, on their cuisine, intimate space and soul. When visiting Logma, we felt as though we entered an authentic space with homemade Middle Eastern cuisine that uses the richness of Iraqi and Iranian taste and flavour in new ways, following seasonal behaviours and inviting local UK resources into the plates in front of us, all held together by a warmth and hospitality that felt entirely genuine. Ziad and Farsin’s work goes against the grain of what to expect with Middle Eastern food ventures, removing the performance of what is and isn’t supposed to ‘fit’ the category and creating something honest and real out of that, in the heart of Hackney. We discussed philosophy, human labour, agriculture, cultural exchange and simply what Logma means, metaphorically and literally, with its founders. In this week’s podcast we are honoured to be joined by @ziadhalub and @farsin of @logmaldn, the Iranian-Iraqi bistro cafe that opened in London Fields earlier this year. In the episode, we discuss creating something that people really want in a moment when so many hospitality businesses are feeling the pain; about navigating virality and hype online; and, particularly, about the meaning and importance of community and what that really entails. Culinary Alert — 🇬🇧 Logma, London: A soulful bridge between Basra and Arak ✨ In the heart of Hackney, Logma has officially opened its permanent home as a deeply personal café-bistro that honors the unhurried gathering culture of the Middle East. Founded by partners Ziad Halub and Farsin Rabiee, the space is a community-forward sanctuary inspired by the 20th-century bistros where tea, poetry, and politics flowed as freely as the food. The name itself, derived from « Loghmeh, » signifies the « perfect bite »—a promise kept through a menu rooted in the nostalgic everyday dishes of Iraqi and Iranian homes. By day, the atmosphere is bright and local, centered around tahini buns, specialty coffee, and hearty kofte sandwiches. However, the true essence of their mission unfolds during Logma Lates, where a communal candle-lit table invites guests to linger over regional treasures as if in a private home. From the ancient, celebratory Duck Fesenjoon—a rich walnut and pomegranate stew—to delicate saffron rice and fragrant fruit sharbats, the kitchen celebrates a shared heritage shaped by both history and the diaspora experience. The space is a collaborative work of art, brought to life by local designers and friends to reflect a modern Middle Eastern aesthetic. With a generous no-corkage policy and a menu that evolves with the seasons and regenerative harvests, Logma is a place where family recipes are preserved and shared. It serves as a vibrant reminder that food is the most powerful language for connecting with one’s roots and building a common ground. 📍 London, UK #LaListe1000 #LogmaLondon #londonfood #londonfoodie by @logmaldn
