Jahamun (紫霞門) of Bulguksa is one of the important gates in Bulguksa Temple, located between Daeungjeon (大雄殿, the Hall of Great Hero) and Geungnakjeon (極樂殿, the Hall of Supreme Bliss). The name “Jahamun” translates to “Purple Haze Gate”, symbolizing a mystical light, often associated with enlightenment and the divine realm in Buddhism.

Features and Meaning of Jahamun
1. A Gateway to the Heavenly World
• Bulguksa represents the Buddhist ideal world, or Buddhist Pure Land (佛國土, Bulgukto).
• Jahamun serves as a symbolic passage from the mundane world to the enlightened realm (Nirvana or Paradise).
2. Architectural Characteristics
• Like other gates in Bulguksa, Jahamun follows the traditional Korean Buddhist architectural style.
• Built with wood, it harmonizes beautifully with the surrounding nature.
3. Location within Bulguksa
• It is positioned between Geungnakjeon (Hall of Supreme Bliss, dedicated to Amitabha Buddha) and Daeungjeon (Hall of Great Hero, dedicated to Shakyamuni Buddha).
• This placement symbolizes the path from the human realm to the Pure Land of Amitabha Buddha.

Symbolism of Jahamun
• A Path to the Pure Land: Bulguksa is not just a temple but a physical representation of an ideal Buddhist world.
• Transition from Reality to Enlightenment: Passing through Jahamun symbolizes a journey toward spiritual awakening and higher consciousness.

Jahamun plays an essential role in the spiritual and architectural layout of Bulguksa, representing the bridge between the ordinary world and the realm of enlightenment.

I’m exploring what I can do with my new CAD skills. I wonder what I‘ll work on next.

There’s so much AI-generated content, but I still love making things by hand.

Dabotap, reimagined in voxels ✨

The ancient structure stands again —
quiet, precise, and full of hidden harmony.

I brought this historic treasure
into a digital world,
block by block,
just like time builds memory.

History doesn’t fade.
It transforms. 🌕

Here’s my second voxel hanok design! 🏯✨
Every rafter, window, and roof tile is carefully placed to capture the rhythm and harmony of traditional Korean architecture.
Creating digitally, I get to explore the spirit of history in a modern form. 🌿

🌿 Hanok Village Completed! 🏯
Every roof tile, wooden floor, and window pattern carries the warmth of tradition and time.
This voxel Hanok Village is my way of preserving the quiet beauty of Korea in the digital world.
Where tradition meets technology, a new story begins. 💫
