“Jabberwocky” is today’s prompt for the #mabsdrawlloween26 challenge.

The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One two! One two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

“Frankenstein” is today’s prompt for the #mabsdrawlloween26 challenge.

Dr. Frankenstein creates a bride for his monster, but when she is introduced to him, her terrified shriek is an unmistakable rejection. Heartbroken and enraged, the monster pulls a lever, destroying the laboratory - and everything around him.

“Haunted House” is today’s prompt for the #mabsdrawlloween26 challenge. 👻🏚️

NEW TO THE MARKET - MUST BE VIEWED!

This truly unique period property has just come to market with Frightmove and is being offered for auction.

Situated in a quiet, secluded location, this charming residence is in need of some modernisation and offers the discerning buyer plenty of scope to put their own stamp on it.

The property boasts excellent character, original features and an abundance of atmosphere. There is also the added benefit of spacious accommodation for the whole family - both living and otherwise.

The house comes with sitting tenants, who have apparently been there for some considerable time and show little interest in leaving. A fantastic opportunity for buyers looking to make new friends. Potential to extend into the afterlife.

No onward chain. No need to worry about being alone.

Viewing strictly by appointment.

“Grave” is today’s prompt for the #mabsdrawlloween26 challenge.

My illustration is of Rebecca Waterlow’s grave - a real tomb in St Mary’s Church Cemetery, Reigate, Surrey, England. Rebecca died on Valentine’s Day, 1869, aged 46, predeceasing her husband Walter by more than 20 years. According to the Waterlow Grave legend, her ornate angel-clad tomb was positioned so Walter could see it from his mansion at High Trees, several miles away. The story says that flaming torches were perpetually lit on top of the tomb, making it visible from the windows of his house after dark.

“Mushroom” is today’s prompt for the #mabsdrawlloweenclub2026 challenge.

Meet Chanterelle - a saucy truffle who’s swapped the burlesque stage for the forest floor, entertaining the fun-gi’s and flashing her ‘false chanterelle’ mushroom knickers 🍄

“Mythological” is today’s prompt for the #mabsdrawlloweenclub2026 challenge.

This is Luna, the ancient Roman goddess of the moon, pausing high among the clouds to rest her horses before continuing her nightly journey across the starlit heavens.

Legend tells of her love for Endymion, a beautiful mortal shepherd. So captivated by him, Luna wished for him to remain forever young and untouched by time. She asked Zeus to grant him an eternal, ageless sleep, and he was placed in a quiet cave on Mount Latmos. And so, while the world sleeps beneath the moon, Luna returns to him night after night - crossing the darkness in her silver chariot to visit her sleeping love. 🌙🐎✨

Thank you to Steyning Museum and participating artists at today’s The Big Draw Drawn Out - we enjoyed sketching and exploring the exhibits - its a fascinating museum crammed full of local history, run by passionate enthusiasts in a beautiful English village in West Sussex. My favourite exhibits are memorabilia from the midcentury comedy duo ‘Gert & Daisy’ - two sisters who lived in Steyning - I sketched their mask-face 1920’s dolls that they called ‘Bert & Daisy’!. The soundtrack to this post is one of their recordings. #steyning #steyningmuseum #thebigdraw2026 #thebigdraw #adurarts by @loispawson

“Werewolf” is today’s drawing for the #mabsdrawlloween2026 challenge!

This creature of the night loves a good night out - especially when there’s a full moon. So naturally, she popped into Night Creatures cocktail bar, sporting her newest accessory: a freshly slaughtered rabbit-skin bag. 🍸🐇👜

Because nothing says night out quite like a little bloodshed and a full moon.

‘Vampire’ is my drawing for today’s #mabsdrawlloweenclub2026 challenge. When the sun goes down, the vampires come out to play… After sleeping all day in their cold, dark crypts, what better way to spend the night than with a little vampy dancing? Just don’t stay out too late… dawn has a nasty habit of spoiling the party. #mdwc26d2 #mabsdrawlloweenclub by @loispawson

“Into the Wood” is today’s drawing for the September FOLKTEMBER challenge. Inspired by the amazing poem ‘Spring and Fall to a Young Child’ by Gerard Manley Hopkins, in recognition of National Poetry Day tomorrow, which has the theme of ‘wonder’. #folktember2026 #folktember

Márgarét, áre you gríeving
Over Goldengrove unleaving?
Leáves like the things of man, you
With your fresh thoughts care for, can you?
Ah! ás the heart grows older
It will come to such sights colder
By and by, nor spare a sigh
Though worlds of wanwood leafmeal lie;
And yet you wíll weep and know why.
Now no matter, child, the name:
Sórrow’s spríngs áre the same.
Nor mouth had, no nor mind, expressed
What heart heard of, ghost guessed:
It ís the blight man was born for,
It is Margaret you mourn for. by @loispawson
