Als zestienjarig meisje keek ze eindeloos naar filmpjes van Ranchlands, een door vrouwen geleide ranch in Wyoming. Ze droomde ervan daar ooit te leven. Nu, bijna twintig jaar later, leidt ze er een deel van het jaar een leven als wrangler. Model, fotograaf en kunstenaar @loisschindeler pendelt tussen Nederland en de Amerikaanse prairie. ‘Als de buitenkant even geen rol speelt, komt de binnenkant vanzelf aan de beurt.’Lois’ verhaal kent parallellen met dat van Texaans topmodel @erinwasson, die we voor dit issue bezoeken in haar huis aan de haven van Marseille. Ook Erin werd als kind vaak voor een jongen aangezien, met een korte coupe altijd aan het skaten, surfen en paardrijden. ‘Cowboy culture is a part of who I am. Ik loop ánders in cowboyboots; het is een andere soort swagger, ze geven mijn zelfvertrouwen een boost.’Verder reizen we van kleurrijk Mexico, door naar Oslo en eindigen bij @manuelbroekman en @tijnverstappen in hun nieuwe Amsterdamse hotspot.
