Over the weekend, I hosted one of the largest conferences in Abuja, with over 1,000 people in attendance.

And honestly, if anyone had told me in 2021 that I would be doing something like this, a part of me would have asked, How?

I wish I could come here and tell you that it was all strategy. That it was all planning. That everything happened simply because we knew exactly what we were doing.

But as important as strategy and planning were, I can assure you that this was the hand of God.

I could literally see His hand through the entire journey.

From the people who showed up, to the partners who believed in the vision, the sponsors, the speakers, the team, and everyone who played a role in making The Big Conference 2026 what it became—I am deeply grateful.

And a very special thank you to my mentor @thewinifrednwania , who held my hands throughout this entire process. Thank you for walking with me through the planning, for speaking words of encouragement when I needed them, for your support, and for constantly reminding me that this vision was possible.

I truly do not take your guidance, encouragement, and belief in me for granted. Thank you so much for being part of this journey. ❤️

What happened over the weekend is a reminder to me that sometimes, God gives you a vision that is bigger than what you currently understand—and then He brings the right people, resources, and opportunities together to make it happen.

Being good at what you do is not the same as knowing how to sell what you do.

I learned this firsthand in 2021 when I saw salespeople in a tech company close deals worth millions while many of us doing the technical work earned significantly less.

It wasn’t because we weren’t skilled. They simply knew how to communicate the value of what we were offering.

Your skill matters. But if you can’t communicate its value, negotiate or close, you may not get paid what that skill is worth.

That’s why I’m teaching sales in my Sales Guide.

Not every sale should close.

One thing I talked about in this video is a mistake I see a lot of business owners make: they know a customer isn’t the right fit, but they take their money anyway.

Then the customer struggles with the product or service, doesn’t get the expected result, and suddenly there’s a problem between both parties.

Sometimes, the best sales decision you can make is not to close the sale.

You don’t have to own a business to need sales skills.

I learned this while building The Big Conference.

Getting sponsors and partners wasn’t just about having a great conference. We had to communicate the value, have the right conversations, negotiate, follow up and help people see why partnering with us made sense for them too.

That’s sales.

And this is why I believe everyone should learn how to sell.

You’re selling when you’re asking for a pay raise. You’re selling when you’re pitching an idea to your boss. You’re selling when you’re trying to get someone to believe in your vision, hire you, partner with you or give you an opportunity.

Sales is really about your ability to communicate value and influence a decision.
