What a show to close my LA book with 💜

I've grown and learned so much about myself and the world with this play and I'm kind of wordless still

Lola Darzens “Cassie”

Lola is an actor, writer, and director from Paris, France. After obtaining her masters degree in business and graduating from the Stella Adler, art of acting studio, professional conservatory, Lola expanded her craft from acting, to writing and directing. She was a semi semi-finalist of Of the Loud Kharma Production writing award for her play, Maybe I’ll Plant My Stories, which premiered at the Hollywood Fringe Festival in 2024 she is elated to bring back her second original play, Do you believe in Life before Death? Do you believe in Life before Death?

Arthur, a writer with terminal heart conditions, forms an unexpected friendship with Cassie, an illustrator living with a terminal neurological illness, after becoming neighbors in a long-term care home. Confined to their beds, but surrounded by loved ones, they discover that even with limited time, life can still be filled with laughter, purpose, and new friendships can endure even in the face of life‘s greatest uncertainties.

What a project! I got to put another one of my plays on its feet and let's just say this one got personal. We talked about chronic conditions, how to deal with death, life, love, illness, trauma, fear, joy, friendship and so many other things (there was no room on the Titanic's door)!

I wrote this play to find some legitimacy in my own feelings. Being chronically ill comes with an overwhelming burden of loneliness and trying to care for myself and my loved ones while navigating the great Unknown of my conditions is a feat that has proven to be ... troublesome. My hope with this play is to bring clarity to patients and caretakers that no matter who you are, where you are, what you suffer from, you are not alone and your feelings (yes, al of them) are valid. You swim in a sea of people who will help you keep your head above the surface. You are worthy of unconditional love, care and joy. What you are going through is incredibly hard and you have every right to feel however you want to feel about it. And to change your mind. Or not. You got this, I promise ♥️
