today is 4 years on estrogen!!! 4 years of moving from death to life, and the entire recalibration of how i understand the world to turn. a few days from now is the anniversary of my family abandoning me in favor of their belief system. so a real yin/yang couple of days here.

but this mix of unconditional and conditional love is a fire that propels me forward. it was terrifying to simultaneously throw yourself into the unknown and experience puberty again, and the whole thing was honestly a long shot gamble at the time. but the hail mary exists for a reason. as difficult as it is to be a trans woman and navigate a world so openly hostile to me, i am grateful to be alive and struggling. i have survived much, and excited for the future i create.

birthday film alert 🎞️🚨

used to be that i didn’t much care for my birthday. the attention, the texas sun, the reminder that i still didn’t understand or like myself after another year. my body changing in ways i hated but couldn’t articulate.

this year i spent the whole weekend dancing, playing, cheering, sweating, and proudly being the center of attention for some people with mutual love. in the greatest country in the world, new york city.

it’s been one 1️⃣ year since moving to new york. i was scared. moving alone, barely knowing anyone. a country girl in the big city. could she make do? she did. and does with the help and love of so many she’s been blessed to meet. it was still a herculean task. she learned a lot, has some stories. the winter was rough. but now life is so full and rich with beautiful people and sunshine and good music. and the city deficit has been eliminated and the knicks are in the ecf. the butterfly effect of my arrival seems clear.

as i stand on my roof writing this, someone is blasting gap band. and i have fun plans tonight with people i love.

happy trans day of visibility!! being trans is such a gift, and i am eternally grateful. transitioning later in life isn’t for the weak, many from my past did not fw the vision. but i am now surrounded by more love than ever before. awakening to myself unlocked deep love and compassion for myself and connection to others. truly used to pray for times like this.
