Littlehampton Promenade parkrun — Saturday 8 August

What a beautiful, hot and sunny Saturday morning for a trip to the seaside! ☀️🌊

The Wonky Bear crew headed to Littlehampton Promenade parkrun, where we were greeted by glorious sunshine, fresh sea air and… rather a lot of headwind! 🌬️😂
The course was a lovely two-loop adventure along the promenade, taking us past some fabulous architectural abstract designs, colourful beach huts and all the seaside sights. The route carried on up and beyond the café before turning around and heading back towards the start.

I managed to smash out a fabulous PB! 🎉👏

— sunshine, seaside and a shiny new personal best. You can’t ask for much more than that!

After the run, it was time for the really important part of the morning…

BREAKFAST! ☕🥐🍳

We found a beautiful café overlooking the marina, the perfect spot to sit back, admire the views and refuel after all that hard work. A lovely setting, delicious breakfast and a very happy Wonky Bear crew.

Definitely well worth a visit! 🐻❤️

Great day for a parkrun. First day out for @bonne.aime.wonky bear at Ingrebourne Hill parkrun with friends. I volunteered to write the race report.. here it is:

Sun, sweat, and smiles brought Ingrebourne Hill parkrun event number 78 to life today! The weather was absolutely glorious and beautifully hot, making for a brilliant morning out, as a group of seven of us travelled together to take on the course and collect the letter ‘I’ for our alphabets.

While the parkland unfortunately showed clear signs of devastation from the recent grass fires, nothing could dampen the high spirits of the community.

Ingrebourne Hill itself has a fantastic history of transformation. Located within the Ingrebourne Valley, it evolved from a First World War military site and Second World War fighter station into a gravel quarry, a landfill site, and finally a protected nature reserve and community green space in the 1980s. The core team did a fantastic job keeping the event running smoothly, and the atmosphere was buzzing with positive energy.

We kicked off the morning with a truly great first-timers briefing that welcomed a brilliantly diverse crowd. Tourism was in full swing today, with people travelling from Singapore, Glasgow, Crawley, and Cornwall to name just a few! We also had a very special guest with us- Bonne Aime the WonkyBear, who was enjoying her very first trip today.
The unique 3-lap course kept things interesting, requiring us to navigate one smaller opening lap followed by two larger laps to finish. Leading the pack today, the first male finisher across the line was Tom Birch, and the first female finisher was Keirra Reed. A total of 115 fantastic finishers crossed the line on this beautifully hot morning. It was a brilliant day in the sunshine for all of us.

A massive thank you goes out to all the incredible volunteers who braved the summer heatwave to make today’s event such a fantastic success. Without your hard work, dedication, and high-vis smiles, none of this would be possible!

Today was amazing being on the volunteer team for @jcwparkrun inaugural parkrun this morning as part of the set up and close down team, with a little run in between. I can highly recommend it. Was so lovely to see and meet one of my inspirational sports women @damekellyholmes who was so fabulous spending so much time with everyone.

It will be a day to remember for a long time

Today showed if you believe… you can make it happen. Dead chuffed with a fabulous PB … only couple months ago I was dreaming of sub 30 parkrun, today it was sub 29, you coming along with me on this journey? by @lollyball91

Fabulous parkrun at Uckfield today, it had everything, ducks, cows, lily pond, hills, pillbox, country hotel and a church.

Highly recommended it’s brilliant, with lovely friendly Marshall’s.

My first 10k trail race. Was absolutely amazing. My perfect run, just listening to bird song, bluebells, woodland and hills!!!… yes there were hills…. Can’t wait for another one
