Congratulations to our own @lolo_hatmaker , my illustrious partner in crime, who has been selected to serve as a Technical Official in her first international event, the @iwfnet Youth World Championships in Cali, Colombia July 3-12!! πŸ₯³πŸŽ‰πŸ€© Lauren has worked hard over the last 8-10 years, rising to the top echelon of Technical Officials for the sport of Weightlifting, and was the first person in our WSO to do so. She was nominated for the spot by @usa_weightlifting πŸ˜ŠπŸ™ and then selected by IWF officials. Although we will miss her at home, I am so proud πŸ₯Ή of her for accomplishing this dream--and I'm sure it's just the beginning of a long, illustrious career as an IWF TO. WE DID A THING!!! 🀩πŸ₯³πŸŽ‰ We took these amazing 14 Masters athletes to Salt Lake City for the @usa_weightlifting Masters Nationals this last weekend, and our Women's Team tied with the @catalystathletics Women's Team for FIRST PLACE!! Our Men's Team, comprised of only two athletes ( @ronjohnson3247 and @dehledarin ) managed to finish 11th out of nearly 90 Men's Teams as well. Everyone had such great performances, summarized below: - 5 6 for 6 performances, warranting a new meet ritual ( @dj_masterlifter @barbells_n_bigdogs @just_kirstin_ @birdslookdown and @chelseat76 ) - 4 National Champions (@harrow1212 @ronjohnson3247 @birdslookdown and @chelseat76 ) - 4 National silver medalists - multiple comp PRs - several PNW WSO and National Records Special shout out to @birdslookdown (Kelley) for the meet of her life, going 6/6, 50/66/116 kg (all comp PRs and lifetime PRs)!! πŸ₯³πŸ™ŒπŸ€© Special thanks to my partner in crime, coaching, clock stealing, TOing and the rest, @lolo_hatmaker --all things are better with you. πŸ˜ŠπŸ«ΆπŸΌπŸ™ Thanks for the fun new 6/6 bracelet ritual and for helping us bring this team to such an amazing performance. @herc_the_mastiffboy has given us a little scare this last couple months. πŸ₯Ί He developed a slight front leg limp on walks about 2 months ago. His symptoms seemed to wax and wane, but the overall progression was trending worse, so we took him in to be seen a couple of weeks ago. Always in the back of my mind is the Osteosarcoma that took our beloved Molly at age 5 1/2; she also had a progressively worsening limp that led to her diagnosis. Herc's vet thought it was soft tissue-related, which was a relief. No imaging was done due to the fact it is a real challenge to hoist his now #225 ass onto an imaging table. πŸ™„ We were given more caprofen and advised to limit his activities (he has no volume control or off switch y'all). He continued to worsen, so we added some gabapentin and Trazadone for pain control and sedation, and scheduled a consultation at Oregon Veterinary Referral. He continued to play with his siblings and bound down stairs/hills, only to continue to worsen. When we got home from a long weekend trip to Columbus, he seemed even worse. My mind went to the worst case scenario again. Well, today he woke up with his limp markedly less noticeable, because (of course) it was time to go see the specialist. πŸ™„πŸ˜‚ After a thorough orthopedic examination and X-rays, we can say definitively he doesn't have cancer! πŸ₯³πŸ™ŒπŸ₯²πŸ’• Diagnosis: biceps sprain, +\- tendonopathy. We got more anti inflammatories, muscle relaxants, gabapentin and trazadone--basically enough to keep an elephant 🐘 (or a mastiff boy with no volume control) down. Shout out to brother Grootie boy, who has been Herc's emotional support animal for loading up in the truck and going to the doctors office! No more "balls out," buddy, for at least 12 weeks. Deanna will be competing to secure a coveted TRIPLE CROWN AWARD for the 2025 season! πŸ₯³ Next up will be @harrow1212 in Session 2 STARS PLATFORM at 10:30am ET! Holly will be competing to win both the Finals and Masters Worlds Championship!! 🀩 Following Holly will be @birdslookdown , who will compete in session 3 on the STRIPES PLATFORM at 1pm ET!!
