Remind me again why turning 40 is scary?

I have never been more excited to enter a new decade and having all of these incredible people beside me is the icing on the birthday cake. Wouldn’t have made it to here without you all.

It’s tough to lose anyone you love.

But living 98 years on this planet is also something to be celebrated. Not many people get to love and be loved by as many people as she had. Not many people get to see their children grow as old as she was able to.

And though distance and language from one country to another kept me from getting to know know my beautiful Tita as much as I would have wanted, the woman I did know was filled only with love and kindness.

A selfless, strong woman until her 98th year of life. A true matriarch. A woman who helped raise me for three years as child and made me feel so loved even when we were far away. All while being a fashion icon. 💅🏼 ✨

Today I celebrate those 98 years that myself and the world were lucky enough to have her around for.

Qué duro es perder a alguien que uno quiere. Pero también, vivir 98 años en este planeta es algo que se celebra. No mucha gente tiene la oportunidad de amar y ser amada por tantas personas como ella. Y no cualquiera llega a ver a sus hijos crecer tanto como ella pudo.

Y aunque la distancia y el idioma entre países hicieron que no pudiera conocer tanto a mi hermosa tita como me hubiera gustado, la mujer que sí conocí estaba llena de amor y bondad.

Una mujer fuerte, entregada y sin egoísmo hasta sus 98 años. Una verdadera matriarca. Una mujer que ayudó a criarme durante tres años cuando era niña y me hizo sentir tan querida, incluso estando lejos.

Y todo eso… siendo un ícono de estilo. 💅🏼✨
