Hi 🤗 it’s me, the owner/ baker/social media manager/of Lone Star Bread Company 😅 That’s right it’s a one (wo)man show over here, it’s me, I’m the company. I want to bake for my community and I want you to know who’s on the other end of your bread ❤️ I’m a self taught Sourdough Bread baker and I’ll be the first to tell you I still have no idea what I’m doing most days but I will tell you I found that feeding my family and friends brought me a joy and purpose.

My family comes from humble beginnings and cooking/baking from scratch was a passion I inherited from both of my parents, but especially my mom. She won my heart with her homemade bread growing up. As an immigrant from Bosnia, I grew up learning how to make incredible foods with very little. I’m proud of how far my family has come. In our culture, feeding our guests, friends and others is how we show love.

Sourdough baking found me later in life. With sourdough, I worked through a lot of fails, tears and wanting to quit baking about 72946 times. The best Part about it was learning about MYSELF, not just the bread. I learned patience and resilience in many ways and it turned into something I’m in love with. Something that feels like home and brings me an immense amount of peace and calm. It quiets the mind.

I want to share a bit of my happiness and love with you in the form of bread and I want that to come from my kitchen to yours. Mostly, I just want to feed you. 💕Thanks for supporting me and I hope you like it here. I’m just a girl following her heart. 🍞🥖 taken in Katy, Texas by @lonestarbreadco

Porch pickup display!! Easy, contactless, and freshly baked!!! A few folks came as soon as the pickup window opened so I didn’t get a chance to record everything but I loved the way this turned out 🤗🤗 I have some display signs I want to work on an just tweaking packaging to fit better but otherwise I loved it 🥰 #porchpickup #sourdoughmicrobakery #sourdough

When I first started making sourdough, there were 2 main things I was doing wrong that once I understood, changed the game for me:

1- Having a strong starter. I made my starter from scratch and it took me two full months before it produced a good loaf. Often times your starter just needs more time. Don’t give up, feed your starter big feeds every single day (make it like a paste, not a batter). A few days of a healthy feed will make a huge difference.

2- Understanding bulk fermentation times and signs that my dough was ready. As a beginner baker, I 99% of the time was under-proofing my dough. In Texas, temperature temperatures are consistently high so it was very very important for me to understand how to look for bulk fermentation signs with doughs reaching 80degrees + taken in Katy, Texas by @lonestarbreadco
