Nothing about our purpose has changed. We are still here to support people living with Long Covid and to drive the change that is urgently needed.

Our new name better reflects the national work this community has built together.

Professor Danny Altmann, Immunologist at Imperial College London and Trustee of Long Covid Support, shares his thoughts on why Long Covid hasn't received the attention and support it needs.

Behind him is the Long Covid Support Banner. A collective tapestry created last year for Long Covid Awareness Day, made up of contributions from people living with Long Covid and those who care for them.

Our next Northern Ireland online peer support group is taking place on *Monday 19th October 1130-1230pm*. If you are living with Long Covid or care for someone suffering you are very welcome to join.

The meeting link is on Long Covid UK's Facebook group or you can email support@longcovid.org with your location in NI & we will send you the link.

During the launch you will get an opportunity to watch the two comics as films with audio recordings made with the young Heroes. You will also get an opportunity to hear from the Heroes themselves. Please do invite GPs, MPs, Teachers and anyone else who could be involved in making life easier for young people living with Long Covid.

Last weekend, 16 members of the Hollinghurst and Hole families set off on their annual family fundraising walk. This year, they very kindly decided to raise money for Long Covid UK as a member of their family has been impacted by the illness.

As part of our #ForThoseWhoCant campaign, we have been really keen to get more friends and families of those with Long Covid involved in fundraising activities. This is the perfect example of the power of communities coming together to show their support 💙

The family has raised an incredible £2,864, including Gift Aid, which will go a long way. Can we get them over the £3000 line by the end of the week? If you would like to contribute to the campaign, please follow the link in our bio.

We're delighted to welcome Kris Prosser to our board as our new Treasurer!

Kris is a Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA) and senior NHS finance leader, currently working as Senior Finance Business Partner and Head of Finance for Medicine at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. He has extensive experience in strategic financial planning, financial recovery, transformation and governance, working closely with clinical, operational and executive leaders to support sustainable services and better patient outcomes. As Treasurer and Trustee of Long Covid UK, Kris brings his financial leadership experience to support the charity’s governance, sustainability and continued development.

Kris says:
“I’m delighted to join Long Covid UK and to use my financial leadership experience to support the charity’s long-term sustainability. I’m particularly looking forward to working with the Board, team and wider community to help ensure the charity can continue making a meaningful difference for people affected by Long Covid.”

📢 Help shape the future of care for Long COVID and ME/CFS!

The HERITAGE study is looking for people with lived experience of Long COVID and ME/CFS to take part in our study!

As a part of Work Packages 1 and 2, you will:

✅ Complete 5 questionnaires every three months over a 12 month period
✅ Share your symptoms and experiences
✅ Help us develop a framework for better care and support for people living Long COVID and ME/CFS
✅ Contribute to research that will inform future healthcare services

Please note: Recruitment for Work Package 3 (interviews) has now closed. However, we urgently need participants to contribute by reporting their symptoms through our surveys.

📢 Important Update from the APPG on Long Covid:

Following Jo Platt MP stepping down from her role as Chair, the APPG on Long Covid will hold an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) to elect a new Chair on Tuesday 20 October at 2pm.

Jo will remain an active member of the APPG, but as she has been appointed as a Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS), she is no longer able to hold an officer position within the group.

📝 Please support the APPG if you can by writing to your MP and encouraging them to attend this important meeting!
