I’m so delighted that my piece 1000 Fleeting Moments is having its Irish debut! You will be able to experience the magic of 1000 tiny glass leaves @uillinnwestcorkarts in their Members exhibition running from May 31st-July 3rd in West Cork. Beautiful photos by @roland.paschhoff 📷 with some behind the scenes by me - I especially loved lifting it on the crane @nationalsculpturefactory and seeing them all dance! 🍃

We’re excited for the @businesstoarts Awards 2026 this evening! It’s an honour to be shortlisted again this year, this time alongside our partners @corkoperahouse and @fleetwood_paints in the category Jim McNaughton/TileStyle Perpetual Award for Best Commissioning Practice!

The commission, commemorating the 170th anniversary of Cork Opera House, was awarded to Sample-Studios Member Sophie Longwill @longwillstudio. A Cork-based multi award-winning artist, Sophie created the work entitled Illuminating the Archives using 170 individual pieces of glass commemorating those who have performed on Cork Opera House stage and been part of their story.

The piece now hangs permanently in foyer of Cork Opera House’s foyer.

Thanks to Business to Arts for the nomination! We’re honoured to be nominated alongside our partners Cork Opera House and Fleetwood Paints.

After 10 years, I finally had to say goodbye this morning to arguably the greatest bun in the world 💔 Ten years of mischief, love, and as the vet said, ‘great bunnitude!’ 🐰 he will be SO very missed 😭 but I’m grateful we had a whole decade to hop around together by @longwillstudio

A striking new permanent artwork by Cork-based glass artist, Sophie Longwill, has been unveiled at Cork Opera House as part of our extended 170th anniversary celebrations. A multi award-winning artist and member of Sample-Studios, Sophie was selected through a competitive tender process last year.

The commission, titled Illuminating the Archives, was sponsored by Fleetwood Paints and developed in partnership with Sample-Studios, representing Cork Opera House's lasting cultural legacy.

Made up of 170 individual cuts of glass, it is a glowing tribute to 170 years of Cork Opera House, all those who have performed on our stage and been part of our story.

The piece now hangs permanently in our front-of-house space. Make sure to check it out when visiting us.

The judging panel for the 170th Anniversary Visual Art Commission included Brian Keehan
(Fleetwood Paints), Aoibhie McCarthy
(Sample-Studios), Brian Mac Domhnaill (Lavit Gallery) and Eibhlín Gleeson (Cork Opera House). by @longwillstudio
