On Friday, October 16th, Longwood Speech, Hearing, and Learning Services hosted a sensory-friendly event in collaboration with the Virginia Children’s Book Festival. Elementary students from Prince Edward Elementary enjoyed a special interactive reading by Christina Shawn and participated in hands-on activities led by Longwood’s SLP graduate students. They all received a signed copy of Shawn’s book, No Love-Potion: A Witchy Tale of Magic and Heart! by @longwoodslp

📚 🍁Always learning, even on fall break!

We were excited to attend the annual Southeastern University Clinical Educators (SEUCE) Conference at the University of Georgia this week! It was a great opportunity to connect with other programs, share ideas, and explore ways to continue strengthening clinical education.

We’re especially proud of Shannon Salley, SLPD, CCC-SLP, for presenting on microcredentialing pathways for students to support their learning and professional growth! 👏 by @longwoodslp

We were honored to have Longwood Speech, Hearing, & Learning Services director, Caitlin Frank, invited to speak at the 102nd Scottish Rite Conference in Danville, VA. Caitlin highlighted the tremendous support of the Scottish Rite and the meaningful impact of this partnership. Through this continued collaboration, we are able to expand access to vital speech & hearing services for children and families throughout our rural community. We’re all ears! 👂 Dr. Eubanks and a group of graduate students recently participated in the Richmond Family Health Fair at the Ismaili Jamatkhana congregation! Our team provided hearing screenings for 80 adults and children. We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect with families, promote hearing health, and put our students’ skills into practice beyond the clinic! 💙 by @longwoodslp

📚Yesterday, we celebrated our very own Dr. Erin Wallace, PhD, CCC-SLP, at the annual Bookplate Ceremony! Dr. Wallace was honored for achieving tenure and for her promotion to associate professor. Her bookplate will reside in the novel, The Midnight Library, a lasting tribute to her hard work, service, and leadership. 👏🏼 Please join us in congratulating Dr. Wallace for these accomplishments! by @longwoodslp
