POSTS STORIES REELS

on february 21st, 2016, my first boyfriend cheated on me.
i thought it was the worst day of my life.
for years, i flinched when the date came around.
february 21st was a reminder that people could and would hurt you.

then february 21st, 2021 arrived —
and my dad unexpectedly fell into a coma and never woke up.

suddenly, heartbreak felt small. crying on the bathroom floor about a boy was incomparable to crying on the floor about losing a parent.
the scale shifted.
the meaning of “worst day” changed forever. but wow did i hate february 21st.
i felt as if that day would always carry a shadow.
but life apparently had other plans.

on february 21st, 2026 — with no planning — the final proof of my first book was printed.

ten years after my first heartbreak.
five years after the real worst day of my life.

i don’t know if it’s coincidence.
or if it’s my dad’s quiet stamp of approval from above.

but february 21st will no longer be a day i dread.
it’s the day i finished what my dad told me at 13 years old that i was meant to do.

it’s the day my first book officially arrived:
“how to live; written by a girl who’s going to die.”

it’s a story about a 24-year-old girl diagnosed with stage four glioblastoma a week before her 25th birthday.
she spends her final six months writing a diary to her little sister — living bravely, loving loudly, and realizing she’d been living life wrong before the diagnosis.

i wrote this book because we waste so much time.
time being upset over things we won’t remember in six months.
time being angry at ourselves for not being further along — professionally, emotionally, physically.
and i want you to take your time back. i don’t want you to waste a second of it.

you are not promised 100 years.
it’s a beautiful number, but it’s not the truth.
you might have 100 years… but you might have 78, or 56, 43, or maybe just 25. so you might as well live freely — scratch that — you need to live freely while you’re here.
you need to spend as much time “in joy” as you can, for as long as you’re here.

anyways, i hope you like my book 💕
