What a day! Let me tell you. I went down to Times Square in search of something. I am walking down and I meet this dude by the name of Jayden sitting down smoking a joint and I thought here’s my chance at a lighter (which is a quick + e-z way to make a friend) he was super cool about it. We sat around for approximately 20 minutes just getting down to the basics. Next thing you know I’m inviting him to soho to come with my to make an exchange at Kith. To my surprise he said yes. I was hoping I wasn’t being weird because it seems people forgot how to connect with others if it isn’t powered by social media. We walked down canal st and grabbed a couple of beat boxes. Then before I knew it were at Washington square park (I kept calling it Madison square park) then I met Makayla (sorry if I’m butchering it) and Ish. Super cool skater kids. We spent the entire afternoon there. So much community, people making line to play double-dutch, wanna be influencers interviewing people, etc. today was the best day ever and grateful for all the strangers I connected it with. I am a soul cartographer always in search of deeper connection and understanding of the human race. Hahaha gotta go bye taken in Madison Square Garden by @loojsta

I’d like to preface this. I am on vacation because my job gave me what they call a “break in service.” Essentially 5 days off for my hard work. When I first started I didn’t know if I’d even make it through the year, but what these 5 days would look like never left my mind. An entire year. This is quite the milestone for me. I am even embarrassed to say that at the age of 29 because it makes me feel like such a late bloomer when all I’ve had to do my entire life was catch up. I try not to compare myself to others around me and remind me that I am on the path that is for me, which is this one. To be here today is a small testimony of what could be. All my life I’ve moved around. From foster home to foster home til I got adopted. School to school, 11 high schools to be exact, all of which I can account for. I’ve had so many jobs and making it through the year was not really in the books for me. My entire life I’ve had to deal with instability, most of which is psychological. So it feels ridiculous to voice this out loud when everyone else seems to be ahead. But like @curious.caitt reminded me, we have to celebrate every win even the small ones. So here’s this one.
An entire year at my job and I want to use this time to reflect on all that I’ve endured. All the times I’ve wanted to impulsively quit or revert to my old ways but didn’t. A whole year has passed me by. And as grateful as I am to be where I am, I know this world has so much more out there for me and this is just the beginning. I am learning to trust myself because I’m the one writing this story this time. With that being said, if you don’t know where you’re going take any road it’ll lead you there. The journey there never feels like what you thought it would. There are decades where nothing happens and days where decades happen. ❤️ by @loojsta
