I’m grateful every time I’m offered a project. I really feel blessed with every single recommendation you all put out there for us. People need to know that our prices are set by the time we put in and the investments made in equipment and skill development. You can always get cheaper rates than us. Always. If that’s your metric for what makes a project successful then you aren’t the right fit for us anyway. ❤️ by @lookwhatwebuilt

As I’m in construction/renovation purgatory with zero interesting content for y’all, please enjoy this bedroom movie theatre I built and now miss so dearly. Plywood floors and boxes everywhere is our life. Thinking longingly of our old sanctuary as we create the new one. taken in Kelowna, British Columbia by @lookwhatwebuilt

I just wanted whey for my favourite bread recipe tomorrow. So naturally I had to make some cheese, and if that isn’t an opportunity to make lasagna then why even call it Wednesday? by @lookwhatwebuilt

It’s not about cost, it’s about comfort. The cost improvement comes with it. 1 year of energy, were the improvements worth it?

The previous owner of this house reported over 300 a month in electricity and over 600-700 in gas during the winter months. Between 6-8000 a year in energy utility. Now the house operates for under 1500 per year, an average savings of $5500 per year.

The renovation cost is about $180,000, but that is a full top to bottom renovation, not the costs of the Energy upgrades. Energy upgrade increase cost estimation around $50-$60,000 giving a simple payback calculation of about 10 years. With a net present value calculation, I would reduce that significantly. The biggest impact, though, is the comfort and quality of life improvement. The home is quiet inside, the surfaces remain free of condensation and mold, and the overall comfort is excellent. The air is clean and fresh. During periods of wildfire, the air tightness keeps the smoke out and the filtration cleans the air inside. The home operates on a 9000 BTU heat pump, but primarily through passive principles during the shoulder seasons. The heat pump turned off first week of April this year, then back on from middle of June until the beginning of September. It’s been off for several weeks but will likely need to start running in the middle of October. The temperature in the house stays consistent without significant inputs, and that means quiet peaceful existence. taken in Kelowna, British Columbia by @lookwhatwebuilt

Kids sitting with my dog, chatting, throwing rocks in the water… gives me hope. I don’t have kids but seeing my nephews enjoy this beautiful place where I have spent the last 33 summers is very special, and I feel that. by @lookwhatwebuilt
