Thrifting my way through the world & sharing the things that bring a spark into my life ✨
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
The only new furniture we have in our house is our closet and bed, which we got from ikea. The rest we’ve been finding in charity shops, marktplaats, Facebook marketplace, on the street or received pre-loved from people we know. Also our cat Mamita, we found, funnily enough, on marktplaats. She was found on the streets and was looking for a new home, which we were more than happy to provide to her. taken in Den Haag by @loooppi_

Last week I visited two new (for me) thrift shops in Bezuidenhout and Mariahoeve. Two neighbourhoods I’ve explored little in The Hague. Both kringloops were worth a visit but the second one was truly worth the journey.

Schroeder Kringloop Theresiastraat
📍Theresiastraat 292
+ great place to find especially clothes
+ quite well organised
- interior section was a bit more chaotic
Price:€-€€
I saw reviews on Google that it would have become really overpriced, but I found many nice things for low prices - however items that are more valuable seemed to be priced a bit upwards

Kringloop Zwedenburg
📍Zwedenburg 155, 2591 BD Den Haag
+ two floors to explore with enough space not to feel cramped in
+ very well organised
+ whatever you search you will find here whether it’s clothes, home decor, furniture, vinyls, you name it
Price: €
I found that things were cheaper than in many other kringloops in The Hague, even for more valuable things. Especially framed art (even the big framed art, in nice frames) was below 10€ while I see these have become more expensive in the center with 35€ often being the starting prices. taken in Den Haag by @loooppi_

Some of my favourite finds at thrift stores are serving dishes. Last week I found 2 round steel plates from Emmaus Den Haag for 3€ and a longer square steel plate at Kringloop Zwedenburg (highly recommend this place!!) for 1€. They came in handy when on Friday we decided to host some friends for a couple drinks. I decided to make some cheese plates with some cheese, olives and fruit I got from Haagse markt and matched it with a light red and an orange wine that @vinoveroweimarstraat recommended - it was the perfect combination, as you can see even a little panther tried to get a taste 🤭 Black cat and a successful wine & cheese evening by @loooppi_

Join me thrifting during Easter weekend in The Hague. I will do a series of different thrift stores I’m visiting and trying to explore a bit more places I’ve never been to before. The past weekend i visited two new places Kringloop Laakhaven and 070WATT and can warmly recommend both places. I also went to some of my regular spots. As I love making lists, please en:

@kringloop_laakhaven (recycle Laakhaven on Google maps)
📍Neherkade 1852

+ well organised
+ good quality things
+ very friendly staff (kept offering us free coffee)
+ good prices
- nothing is priced so you have to ask

070WATT
📍Pletterijkade 15-28
+ very good prices
+ nice things if you have the patience to look through

@bibeloo_jewellery_vintage
📍Boekhorststraat 36
+ really nice vintage things (clothing, interior, vinyls, accessories)
+ well curated
+cosy
- price is a bit higher but I think if you find something that you like the prices are justified
- it is a small space, so it can feel a bit cramped when more people are in the shop

@emmausdenhaag
📍Prinsegracht 36
+ selection is great
+ well organised
+ really good prices

@schroeder.loosduinsekade
📍Loosduinsekade 156
+ amazing place to visit if you are moving - you can find everything from furniture to electronics, lights, tableware etc
+ good prices taken in Den Haag, Netherland by @loooppi_

I’ve been meaning to buy one of these Royal Delft cookie jars from Van Schaik for a while. This weekend I found one at the Schroeder Kringloop in Loosduinseweg for 7,50€ (new they sell for 40€)
Finally some Dutch design in my home 😌

The jar looked a bit sad empty, so today I made some Finnish fudge cookies (also known as Wilhelmina cookies)

For the cookies you need:
200g butter
1dl white sugar
1dl brown sugar
3tbsp syrup
1tsp vanilla extract
5-6dl flour (also works with gluten-free flour, just make sure check the consistency of the dough, it might need additional flour)
2tsp baking soda

Mix the cold butter and sugar until it becomes a creamy consistency. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well together. Form 3 sausage shapes on the baking tray and flatten them a bit. Bake in 175 Celsius degrees for 15min. Be careful to not let them in too long. Once they are have a golden brown colour, they are ready. Mine we’re a couple minutes too long and they got a bit too brown (luckily they still taste good) 🫣 Cut into small diagonal shapes of your liking and let cool down.

Finland is the place for thrifting. You find incredible items for even better prices while enjoying a coffee and some pastries. Here are some of my favourite places I visited during my last visit.

Tampere - @radiokirppistampere a traditional rack rental thrift were you can find treasures for reasonable prices. I ended up buying an Arabia Ruska sugar+cream set for 2€

@relovelifestyle I absolutely love the concept of having a beautiful cafe combined with a second hand shop. This one is a bit pricier but the quality of both the products sold and the pastries are worth the price. I took my mom here to treat her for a birthday cake. We shared the passionfruit Brita cake and a blueberry cupcake. The brita was my favourite - perfect balance of sweet and sour. Also found myself a silk+linen blouse from järvi muoti for 20€

Tervajoki - @susankirppis_ this place has such good energy. Or maybe it’s because I made such good finds that I feel that way 🤭 Also a traditional rack rental style thrift shop. Amazing finds, especially for Nordic design and glass art. I bought here a vase from Tapio Wirkkala 25€, vintage candle holder from muurla 8€, a basket (with its contents) 9€, 7 glass dessert plates 10€, 6 silver spoons (1€ per piece) and some cookies from a local bakery.

Ähtäri - @visitremix after leaving Tervajoki, we noticed we will arrive exactly at closing time at remix. I called and asked if we could still make it and they were so kind to keep the door open another 30-40min. The space used to be a bank. The place is well organised and all the treasures are presented so creatively and beautifully. I ended up buying some jewellery 15€, a silver plate 4€, a Latin music vinyl collection 20€, an organiser 6€ and some cinnamon buns 5€ (korvapuusti)

Already looking forward to the next thrifting trip! taken in Finland by @loooppi_
