We have a win!!! 🐰✈️

Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines now allow rabbits in-cabin on ALL domestic routes, including to and from Hawaii. This happened because of you, this community, and the incredible @betterbunnyhawaii who fought alongside us.

Please take a moment to tag and thank @alaskaair They listened, and that deserves to be recognized🙏💚

And if you want to help us keep fighting for rabbit families everywhere, our GoFundMe is in our bio. Every little bit helps🙌

This win is yours. Now let’s get the rest🌟

Thank you to every bun family who has sent us photos, videos, and stories asking Air Canada to allow rabbits to travel in the cabin in memory of Rosie. 💜 Every submission will be included in our advocacy binder.

Here is just a small selection of the adorable photos we've received so far. You can still send more—we'll be creating another collage!

Every bun is precious and deserves to fly safely in the cabin with their family. We have to keep fighting against a global policy that is putting pets' lives at risk and tearing families apart.

Please share your story. Please make your voice heard. You can submit your story by sending us a DM or by filling out the form in our bio.

If you need to travel to Europe soon, request our guide with tips and tricks for flying with your rabbit. And if you're interested in a discounted Biscuit aka Binky Class ticket for the October 7 flight with @vicunaair —or simply a ticket that allows you to fly with your bun—please contact us by August 10.

While our ability to help is limited, we are committed to doing everything we can to keep rabbits with the people who love them and out of the cargo hold.

Bunnies are not packages. They are family. 🐰❤️

They deserve to travel with people who can respond when something goes wrong. Not like Rosie. Left alone without proper care delivered to a warehouse.

Petition in our bio. Please sign 🙏.

Rosie lost her life because her family had no safe way to relocate with her.

During an unavoidable move from Calgary to Lisbon, Rosie was forced to travel as manifest cargo for three days because airlines would not allow her to fly in-cabin with her guardian — or even travel as checked baggage on the same relatively short flight.

She was separated from her family for a journey that could have been completed in about 12 hours and arrived in critical condition.

Her guardian was told Rosie would be cared for during the journey, but she arrived weak and showing signs that she had not received the care she needed. Despite her family's desperate efforts to syringe-feed and support her, Rosie continued to decline and passed away.

Rosie's death was preventable.

Rabbits — and all animals traveling long distances — require proper monitoring and access to food and water during stressful situations such as transport. Rabbits, in particular, require constant access to hay to maintain normal digestive function. They should not be left unmonitored for multiple days during transit.

When airlines deny safe in-cabin options or other supervised or reasonably short travel alternatives, families are left with choices that can put their rabbits' lives at risk.

Rabbits deserve better. Their families deserve better.

Welfare-aligned alternatives exist, but airlines continue to choose policies that leave many families with no safe option.

In memory of Rosie, airlines such as @aircanada should work with campaigns like @LetBunniesFly and rabbit-savvy veterinarians to develop transport policies that prioritize animal welfare while meeting operational requirements.

And no, not transporting them at all is not a humane alternative. Rabbits are the third most popular companion animals in many countries around the world. They deserve travel options aligned with veterinary science and reality.

Part 2 - More details on this case in our next post.

$8,500 to fly three rabbits in cargo. That's almost the price of a private pet charter.

When Peter, Poppy, and Sheila moved from the US to Estonia with their family, cargo was the only option.

Most families could never afford that much, and when they can't, rabbits get left behind or surrendered.

Even at that price, there was no guarantee they would be okay. Bonded sisters Poppy and Sheila were only kept together because their family insisted. There was no hay, and the water bottles were unfamiliar to them.

The family had to check them in five hours early and reroute their entire trip to ensure the rabbits wouldn't be held overnight. All three made it, but the journey was stressful and not without risk.

Families pay a fortune and still can't be sure their bunnies will arrive safely. Meanwhile, a small cat or dog could have flown in the cabin with their family for $200 or less.

Rabbits deserve safe, affordable travel in the cabin. No family should have to choose between moving and keeping their companions.

And let's put some misconceptions to rest: rabbits are not a meaningful source of rabies transmission to humans, and domestic and international rabbit travel does not require the kind of specialized transport arrangements often imposed on them.

Rabbits are established companion animals, not cargo. They do not need specialized transporters or cargo holds to travel safely. In fact, rabbit savvy vets agree keeping them with their families in an appropriate carrier under the seat is a far more welfare-conscious approach.

Their quiet nature also makes them well suited to cabin travel.

Today, I resigned from my position of Treasurer on the Board of Directors for a nonprofit I served. For the first time in my life, I stepped down from a board position because of my moral convictions and personal integrity.

And I want to share why, because I think there’s something important here for anyone who has ever felt like their voice wasn’t making a difference.

For the past several months, I’ve served on the board of a community nonprofit focused on sustainability, environmental stewardship, education, and bringing generations of people together. All things I care deeply about. I invested a tremendous amount of time helping build and shape the organization. I truly believed in its mission and the opportunity to create something meaningful for our community.

Recently, a proposal to host a local homesteading group prompted a much larger conversation about the kinds of activities and practices the organization should be willing to support, and since then, it’s been several days of back and forth, with little sleep and a lot to think about.

If you’ve followed this page for any length of time, you know my views and position on homesteading or at least the majority of it and the types of people it invites. Beyond the fact that the subject as a whole, and the communities it attracts, I’ve spent considerable time analyzing, the confluence of my objections to these communities ultimately comes down to the views many of them hold towards rabbits and animals overall; including how readily they are exploited and used, often with whatever degree of disregard someone is willing to exercise toward their lives and welfare.

I hold a zero tolerance position issues relating to rabbits where there may be debate about how they serve humans in any other capacity that just existing being themselves. And hold stark convictions about those who may use them in any capacity including for the purpose of breeding, meat, that goes beyond welfare which to some, only looks at their standards of living - ie, (confined in cages and other conditions)

Just finished folding 750 paper bunnies in memory of Rosie🙏Wasabi had to fly cargo from Japan to San Diego and hearing Rosie’s story brought up so many emotions, that I felt like I needed to give @aircanada my all, so no more of our buns would have to suffer in cargo🥺

After working on this all summer for about 187 hours I finally finished and shipped them off to @hekatethebunny💚 Thank you so much to Hekate and @hocus_herbert_neninger for helping with this. It truly would not be possible without you!!

➡️And thank you to everyone who watched, shared, signed the petition, and left a message for Air Canada. It means the world!! Let’s keep it going!!!

2027 is right around the corner, and if this year has taught me anything, it that so much of what we plan and expect of ourselves and our circumstances, does not always go according to plan. Life has a very funny way of throwing the most unpredictable events our way, leaving us to fend for our as we learn to navigate the process of figuring “it” out. Yet it is sometimes the journey we have to go on. For whatever reason…but there’s so much to be grateful for and to be thankful for and when it comes down to it in this life …it’s the simple things that I value most. Not extravagance , reputation , wealth , or other things that I may have at times in my life chased . Today the things that bring me a great sense of comfort is the time I get to spend with those I love and disconnecting from a world that at times feels unrecognizable . We are always plugged into everything all the time, 24/7 - but what else are we missing around us when life is this way. Anyway, I hope you consider taking time for yourself on your babies to do something you don’t normally get to do, because at the end of the day, that’s all that really matters. by @lord_hansel

Just a year ago, bunnies couldn’t fly in the cabin on @alaskaair!

Bun Bun recently traveled from Los Angeles to New York with his family, thanks to Alaska’s policy change. Everyone at the airport and on the flight loved Bun Bun, as always!

Without this policy change, his family might have faced a weeklong road trip or had to leave him behind.

Today, many Canadian families face exactly this dilemma. And across the U.S., families without access to the few bunny-friendly airlines still face heartbreaking choices. And even more families around the world find themselves in this situation.

Bunnies are the third most popular pet. They are family, not cargo, not disposable.

Let’s keep fighting for a world where no bunny has to be left behind simply because of arbitrary airlines policies.

TW staring on slide 6-Every so often, I use this platform to examine rabbit breeding communities and the wider culture of backyard animal production.

Rabbits occupy a complicated place in our culture: some people treat them as livestock, while others cherish them as companions. In breeder culture, those roles collide. Rabbits are bred, confined, sold and killed while still being discussed through the language of care and affection.

That contradiction deserves our scrutiny.

With that in mind, let’s look at Nicole Wiers of Wiers Family Farm.

In one video on Facebook, Nicole describes having a bucket of blood, knives and loppers in her car while picking up her children from camp. She acknowledges that the situation might look suspicious if she were ever to be pulled over.

Beyond what’s in the vehicle, I find her tone, the way she so casually discusses the items in her car, and acts of killing, with such a casual manner, interesting. The reality of killing and processing animals is treated as an ordinary inconvenience, something to joke about rather than something that should prompt serious concern.

Her content extends beyond rabbits. She also documents processing chickens and other animals, presenting slaughter as a routine part of homestead life.

Fendi is a rabbit who was left stranded at JFK for 5 days after ITA Airways informed her mom mid-boarding that her flight “would not be making it.” The transport cost $4,000. The airline offered no assistance. A year ago, Fendi would have flown in-cabin. Now she was treated like an object. She survived, but the next bunny may not.

ITA Airways has allowed rabbits in-cabin for decades. There was no reason to change that.
