virgin is an album that has truly changed me. just like the previous 3, i feel like virgin was released at a time where i really needed it. getting to sing, dance, and cry to these songs with each other has been a beautiful experience by @lordewaterbottle

“i feel, honestly, this year has not been the easiest. i feel like this is one of the darkest years in recent memory for me. it’s a very dark time in our world. it can feel really difficult to see light, and i don’t have any answers for you, but i do know that when we get together in this way, and we break it all the way down and we let ourselves be torn apart by the art that we love, then we let it rebuild us, that means something. that goes something. whatever happens, let’s keep meeting up like this, okay? cause i think there’s something to it.”

ella’s speech at kilby resonated a lot with me. i, too, feel that’s it’s a very dark time in our world. it’s also been dark in my personal life, but being in community with everyone and allowing myself to be torn apart by her works of art, both old and new, has been a meaningful experience. i feel very lucky and privileged to have attended a few shows, and even luckier that i was able to come to austin for the final show. it’s hard to process that a tour that has helped me feel so alive and full of emotion is coming to an end. however, endings are not necessarily a bad thing. i know the next time we are able to meet up to cry, dance, and sing together will be sometime in the future. it’s something to keep looking forward to :)
