What if competition were less about the trophy, and more about what you carry home? 🌍 At the 2025–2026 Taoli World Grand Finals, we sat down with Mr. Lorenzo Guerrini, contemporary dance artist and educator with the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company, to reflect on competition as a space for cultural exchange, personal growth, and discovery.

For Mr. Guerrini, sharing culture allows dancers to see movement, identity, and one another from new perspectives. He hopes Taoli World can remain a space where Chinese dance is shared openly across cultures, and where dancers leave not only with memories from the stage, but with something new to carry forward. 🧳

For Mr. Guerrini, the most meaningful competition is ultimately with ourselves: becoming more curious, more enriched, and a better version of the artist and person we can be.

I am grateful for these past few months, full of dance and personal growth.

It was an honor to perform for @zhongmei.dance . Dancing next to an extraordinary artist taught me so much. I learned from her wide knowledge, the challenging style and her need of moving. It’s been an immense responsibility honoring her husband. A storm of emotions that I will always carry with me. What I experienced on stage reminded me why I want to perform.

I am also grateful for @peterchuthis and his new creation at @nainichendancecompany . The journey was so rich of information and sensations that 8 days felt like a month. A meditative exploration of movement that is honest and true, without embellishments or the need to producing, but simply experiencing. I feel I’ve been learning so much that makes me emotional. I can’t wait to carry this information with me and adapt them to the next chapter.

Never felt this lost before, but trying to create paths in the wood. Making ordinary the extraordinary.
I never thought dance was my life until the moment this injury made me realize that it actually is. A statement that brings lots of questions, and not many answers. But what my body has felt, I miss it a lot. And if today I could, I would dance.
