LOREN GRACE FLOYD @lorengfloyd 📍Chattanooga, TN, USA Fibers BFA 2026 --- Loren Grace Floyd is an artist exploring the relationship between identity and curated space, and how the desire to feel understood through material surroundings and protected by beauty can slowly replace lived experience. She earned her BFA in Fibers from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), graduating Magna Cum Laude in May of 2026. Her artistic journey began through dance and continued through a love of styling herself and her space, grounding her inspiration in performance and self-expression. Through her time at SCAD, Loren developed valuable skills in textile design and innovative craft processes, strengthening the foundation of storytelling that shapes her practice. Immersing herself in diverse creative approaches enabled her to create through the lens of costume, accessory, and sculpture. Her focus has evolved into creating deeply researched, symbolically driven work that navigates personal experience through a surreal, decadent, and nostalgic lens, often incorporating found objects that hold a history of their own. --- Mills Lynerd, @withlovemillls, Photographer (Slides 1-8) Max Schmitz, @maxschmitzstudio, Photographer (Slide 10) Sam Abadie, @sam_abadie, Set Dresser (Slides 1-8) Jamie Domrude, @domrude, Model (Slides 1-6) --- #scad #scadfibers #scaddotedu #scadclassof2026 #fiberartist #fibers #fiber #textiles #textile #textiledesign #textiledesigner #artist #fiberartist #beadwork #displaydesign #embellishment #assemblageart #narrativedesign #accessorydesign #storytelling #vintageart by @lorengfloyd

This past February, I had the incredible opportunity to display my work at the Savannah College of Art and Design Fibers Open Studio 2026 alongside many other very talented artists! I was able to create a still life display that captured the narrative of my ongoing senior thesis through original printed backdrops, found objects, and a collection of my current works. My thesis explores how the objects and spaces one surrounds themselves with create a sense of identity and sanctuary, a feeling of being understood through one’s careful curations. As accumulation is mistaken for fulfillment, identity becomes a performance maintained through things rather than felt from within. The line between self and the reality one has built disappears, and what feels like protection becomes its own kind of confinement, a grasping for control that only deepens the chaos it was meant to escape. My displayed works include a beaded brooch collection, a mixed media beaded necklace, laser-cut fabric swatches, flatbed printed tiles, 3D printed chainmail, and a velvet coin purse with beaded fringe. I am so proud to have seen my vision come together and beyond grateful to have been surrounded by friends and family during this amazing night. Thank you to the Fibers Department for this opportunity and all the support that you have offered me throughout my time at SCAD! #scadfibers #fibersopenstudio #fiberart #narrativedesign #displaydesign by @lorengfloyd

Letters in Luster A limited collection of beaded sentiment brooches ⚜️ Lily of the Valley carries purity, happiness, and sincerity ⚜️ Bluebell embodies gratitude, humility, and constancy ⚜️ Silhouette frames a delicate profile as a keepsake of identity and memory Each brooch is hand beaded and adorned with rhinestones, antiques findings, and a laser etched mother-of-pearl detail. These designs draw on floral elements and motifs, mirroring a time when flowers were worn as coded language. During the Victorian Era, openly displaying emotion was considered poor etiquette; jewelry, which had once been purely decorative, shifted toward personal sentiment, with pieces carrying intimate meaning. Treasured as heirlooms or exchanged between romantic partners and close friends, they served as tokens of affection and connection.
