Let me tell you something funny.

When I was a kid, I saw Trentemøller playing live with DJ T.O.M., and he was using a Korg MicroKorg XL. I remember being completely blown away by that little synthesizer.

And guess what? That was actually the first synth I ever bought!

So now, years later, I’m bringing it back into my setup.

The idea is pretty simple. I wanted to create a compact, easy-to-carry hybrid live setup, combining CDJs and my MicroKorg.

Basically, I prepare my own tracks in Ableton, with loops, drops, hot cues and different sections that I can play around with.

I usually work in C minor, just because I love that key, and I intentionally leave some parts of the tracks empty so I can improvise and play something live whenever I feel like it.

For example, I have a track called “NEED PIANO AND BASS.”

And that’s literally a reminder to myself of what I need to play live on that track!

The cool thing is that I can also use the effects on the mixer. Something like the Pioneer V10 is perfect for this kind of setup. Six channels, three or four CDJs, my little synth, and that’s pretty much it.

No crazy setup, no massive amount of equipment. Just the freedom to DJ, improvise and perform my own music at the same time.

And I think that’s exactly what I’ve been looking for all these years.

So yeah, if you’re curious to see how it works, come check out my very first hybrid live set on October 23rd.

See you there 🌊

In Berlin, we laugh and we cry. We lose ourselves and somehow find ourselves again. Every corner, every sound, every night leaves something behind.
