I found this canvas at my local quilt shop and fell in love with it. I’ve needed a simple unlined tote bag for a while. I got this #cnsuntote from @chalkandnotch free, I think for signing up for their newsletter. This is the medium size and it is quite large. 21.5” w x 13” h x 6” d. by @lori3187

Yesterday was the baby shower for my niece, my brothers oldest child. She’s expecting her 5th baby. We are all hoping for a girl to give her another girl in the family. The next picture is her with her 7 year old daughter who also wants a little sister. Who wouldn’t with 3 brothers!😆 The shower was girl’s only with my other niece (they are sisters) and her 2 daughters and my Mom and my sister in law. I made the patchwork quilt. She wanted sage green. I found someone on Etsy who curates colors so I went with sage green to blue spruce for the colors. I followed @loandbeholdstitchery YouTube video to piece them together. It took me a lot less time than I had anticipated. I made the binding with the continuous binding method. I machine sewed the binding to the front and hand stitched it to the backing for a clean finish. 4.5” squares I found a YouTube video that will change the way I hand stitch anything. I highly recommend watching the video on how to tie a knot behind the needle eye. This is a quilt for my eldest niece for her 5th child who arrives in October. This is my first patchwork quilt. I bought a curated collection of greens from Etsy with some fabric I found while in Illinois and locally here in California. It took me a couple hours to arrange all the rows and columns. My back is a bit achy. Tomorrow starts the sewing. I found a video on how to put this all together. 🤞 #babyquilt #patchworkquilt by @lori3187

I’m finally getting there with this Kelly Crewneck sweater I started in February of 2023. Pattern by @twoofwands, yarn by @sewrellayarn. It was a collaboration between them. I think the yarn was called Autumn in New York and this colorway is Dinner Party. At some point deep into the back, I realized that my gauge and tension were off. I frogged the whole thing and restarted. I didn’t get far as my brother died unexpectedly and each time I restarted my heart just wasn’t in it. I finally got the back and front complete! 🥳 Next time I pick up my crochet hook I will be adding bands to the bottoms and then onto the sleeves and neckband. This is my first project with superwash merino wool. by @lori3187

I finally got to wear the @helens__closet #reynoldsdress that I made in April. I made it for my nephews wife’s baby shower that I was too sick to attend. I made it in a size 12 through the bust and waist tapering to a size 10. I shortened it by 1”. This was a linen rayon blend I bought from Joann’s 4-5 years ago. Unbelievably I spent $12.99 on 2.5 yards. I did some major sale/coupon stacking. Today is my birthday, hence the second picture with a gin and tonic in my hand!🍸Slainte! by @lori3187

A couple of crafty projects I completed in the last couple of weeks. I made the Granny Circle bag pattern by Selena Baca crochet. I used Caron cotton cakes. I made a summer top with this yarn in 2019. I was so hot all day plus the yarn was itchy and really not a good color for me. I frogged 🐸 it and it sat in my stash until I recently saw this pattern. So now I have a bag for farmers markets. The bat was made for my bonus granddaughters 14th birthday. She loves brown bats. I bought some brown minky fabric and had some leftover brushed cotton that worked for contrast on the wings and ears. I increased the size by 150% so it would be a little bigger. It ended up almost 10” tall. Lots of hand sewing which is stressful. 😆 Pattern by CelebrateWhoYouArt on Etsy. She has a lot of cute stuffie patterns if you have children in your family. I have an elephant to make for me because even at almost 68 there’s still a kid in there. 😎 by @lori3187

I finished these #hudsonpants shorts version pattern by @truebias a couple of days ago. I had to put them away because we had unexpected rain and cold move through my part of Northern California. Today it finally warmed up enough to wear them when we walked our dog. I usually buy these kind of shorts from Kohl’s. I like their Tek Gear Bermuda shorts but they recently changed the design so I decided to duplicate the look using the Hudson pants pattern. They fit really well but I’m kind of getting a little camel toe in the front😬. I’m thinking I’ll hack them to higher waistline next time using Kelli’s tutorial. Fabric was from @stylemakerfabrics and is a midweight jersey. It was perfect for the shorts. #sewover50may by @lori3187

#memademay2026 day 23 #pomonashorts in linen and an #ashtontop in rayon challis. I got the challis from @stonemountainfabric last year. It was dead stock from an Australian designer. This fabric was so great to sew with. I made a swim cover up with it and had enough leftover for the Ashton. #sewover50may by @lori3187

#memademay2026 day 21. Today’s shorts are #pomonashorts and the #underwoodtank top by @sewhouse7. I made the tank last summer. I got the armholes right on the third attempt. Too tight armholes really bug me. It took a few tries to get the Blomma tank just right for me too. #sewover50may by @lori3187

#memademay2026 day 20. I’m wearing cropped #freerangeslacks wide leg version and another #elliotsweater tee shirt. I got both fabrics from @stonemountainfabric. I knew the linen had lurex in it. I just didn’t know how much. I feel extra shiny in these pants. I actually like the structure it provides but not the scratchiness. Won’t be making that mistake again. #sewover50may by @lori3187

My oldest niece asked me if I could fix her youngest (4 years old) boys favorite stuffie who he calls Sloth Friend! Into Great Aunt Lori’s stuffie hospital he went and I thought he looked great when I got through with him. He was discharged Sunday so my nephew could sleep with his best friend again. I even found some matching buttons to add eyes. by @lori3187

I forgot to post this yesterday for #memademay2026 day 14. I wore my first #chanterelleshorts pattern by @sewliberated with another #elliotsweater pattern by @helens__closet . I made the shorts out of scraps from a different project. I am going to make another pair this summer in some linen I got recently. They are a little short for my taste so I’ll make them a bit longer next time. My right arm is bandaged because I had just gotten home from donating blood. I try to do it every 8 weeks in honor of my grandpa who donated most of his adult life. If you have @vitalant in your area, they make it very easy to donate. #sewover50may by @lori3187
