Strong communities are built through strong partnerships. 💡Kicking off our 35th Summer Institute, our Teaching Fellows had the opportunity to give back to public school partners and community organizations that open their doors, partner with us to expand opportunities for young people, and help make Breakthrough possible.Our Teaching Fellows engaged in meaningful service projects at schools across our community, giving back and creating Breakthroughs through collective ACTION!🌼 At Dunn’s @OvertownFarms, our Fellows supported the community through hands-on gardening work to create and maintain a vibrant community space. 📚 At Riverside Elementary (@recs.bulldogs), Fellows assisted teachers with sorting books for their classrooms and created kindness cards to give to Riverside Elementary staff.📖 Teaching Fellows who visited Miami Shores Elementary (@shoreselem) assisted in organizing the school’s book room for students in the upcoming school year.🏫 Over at Frederick Douglass Elementary (@fdeslions), our Teaching Fellows prepared the school’s community spaces to be spirited and welcoming for the upcoming school year.🌱 At @MargateElementary, Fellows assisted in beautifying a garden dedicated to a child who passed. 📘 Fellows who assisted at Brucie Ball Education Center (@bbec_mdcps) organized their book room and decorated boards in a beach theme.🌻 At @GouldsElementary, Teaching Fellows aided in beautifying the school’s newly donated “Buddy Bench” garden area, which provides students with a welcoming, peaceful space to regulate. 🎨 At Leisure City Elementary (@leisurecityk8), our Teaching Fellows assisted in interior painting efforts and general aesthetic improvements to create a lively academic environment.
