So honored and grateful to receive this recognition. Let me tell you how we got here. Before we started Pop’N, Jessica and I worked together at 2 different places: TBS/TNT and TV One. Funny enough, Jess suggested we start a business together back in our TBS/TNT days, but apparently (as she reminds me) I didn’t take her seriously. Fast forward several years when we worked together again, but this time when she brought it up, I took it VERY seriously. And so we began. We decided we could really do this AND be the agency we always wanted to find. After many coffee shop meetings where we mapped out everything from business operations to services to coming up with our company name (so glad we chose this one!), we launched Pop’N. And we’ve never looked back! PSA to anyone wanting to start their own biz: JUST DO IT. You’ve got the goods and God won’t let you fail. It’ll either be a lesson or a blessing. I’m thankful that God put us together in this venture. I couldn’t have chosen a better business partner and close friend than @lanejessd. Happy 1st birthday to this amazing, fun, feisty and a little spicy little girl. She’s been the best addition to the family and we’re so thankful for her extended family with @wendyvasquez860 and her kids, who created this beautiful celebration for our princesa! Hi! I’m Lori. If you’re new here, I’m a co-founder, mom and wife. Yes, it’s a lot of hats to wear. Yes, it can be exhausting most days. And yes, it’s always worth it. I chose this life. If you’ve know me for a while, you’ll know that I’ve had tons of successes (claps for self), but nothing has been more challenging and more rewarding than trying to find balance in my current roles. What successes you may ask?- Launched Tyler Perry’s first TV series and every single one he had on TBS (yes, he’s great and amazing to work with. And hilarious and down to earth. I have a lot to thank him for)- Made VP at 32 - Made SVP at 35- Launched a podcast called 38 & Dating (still out there, and I plan to relaunch it soon)- Met my hubby at 38, right after I launched the podcast 😂- Starter my own company at 40 (S/O @lanejessd )- Became a mom at 42 (natural conception)- Had baby #2 at 45 (natural conception, after a 1 failed IVF attempt and 2 miscarriages)- Currently 46, run an all-women led agency, have a sassy 9 month old girl and a vibrant 4 year old boy Yes, I’m living the dream. Some days it looks like fancy clothes and makeup and paparazzi in tow. But many days look like this. Me, at 2:57pm, waiting for school to get out so I can grab my 4 year old and take him to home. But before I leave, I have to pack him a snack, make a water bottle (bc the school forgets to put his in his backpack and it only took me one time of hearing “mami, I want agua” 50-11 times to never forget it again), pack myself some water (bc I’m a breastfeeding mom - IYKYK), pack myself a snack, grab my laptop and charger (can’t forget the charger), wallet, keys and glasses. Whew!So when you ask yourself “I wonder what being a founder is like?” — here you go. A glimpse. We have a lot of fun days. A lot of big wins. But the grind is so very real. And if you’re a mama or caregiver of any kind, double that.But we can do it! Cheers to everyone in the grind. We got this, yall. Oh! And if you’re so inclined, I’m revamping my page and podcast.
