I’m always drawn to the tension between old and new.

For this kitchen, I wanted the architecture and materials to carry a sense of history, without the room feeling overly traditional. Dark timber cabinetry, reclaimed stone and a carved marble sink bring age and character, balanced by a quieter, more contemporary restraint.

I think the most interesting interiors are difficult to place in a particular moment. They feel collected rather than decorated, with pieces that could have always been there sitting naturally alongside something new.

That balance is something I come back to in every project.

You can spend a fortune on a home and it can still not feel expensive.

Because it’s rarely the most expensive piece in the room that makes the difference. It’s how everything works together.

The proportions, the lighting, mixing something old with something new, choosing materials that will age beautifully and knowing when to stop. These are the details that make a space feel considered rather than simply expensive.

They’re also things I think about on every project, and none of them are necessarily about spending more money.

I’ve shared the 7 things I think make the biggest difference above.

Save this for your next project. by @lorikooperman

Cool girl autumn, translated into interiors.

Chocolate brown, tobacco, cognac, suede, shearling, leopard and anything that gets better with age. The textures and tones I’m drawn to in fashion right now are exactly how I want interiors to feel this autumn.

A few ways I’d bring it home:
1. Layer your browns. Chocolate, tobacco and cognac are better together. Nothing needs to match.
2. Look to your wardrobe. Suede, leather, shearling and animal print translate beautifully into interiors.
3. Mix polished with imperfect. Something refined next to something worn, aged or unexpected will always feel more interesting.
4. Treat leopard like a neutral. A little goes a long way.
5. Always mix old with new. The best rooms feel collected over time, not bought all at once.

I don’t believe in redecorating your home for a season, but I do love letting the mood of one influence how we live.

This autumn, I’m drawn to interiors that feel darker, richer and a little more undone.

I’m predicting a comeback for frescoed walls.

They’re hardly new. We’ve seen versions of them for centuries, across cultures and styles, but I love how relevant they feel again.

Faded colour, imperfect brushwork and walls that feel more like art than decoration.

I’m currently designing one for my Ibiza project and I can’t wait to see it come to life.

Would you be bold enough to have one in your home? by @lorikooperman

I used to be much more concerned with getting interiors “right”.

15+ years later, I’ve realised the most interesting rooms often come from the things that aren’t quite perfect.

Something old with something new. Refined with raw. Materials that age and change. Pieces that weren’t necessarily meant to sit together.

The longer I work in design, the more I trust instinct over rules.

But one thing hasn’t changed: I want a home to feel like the people who live there, not the designer who designed it.

My first fashion show 🤍 and a pretty amazing one to start with.

eBay’s Endless Runway was completely shoppable, celebrating pre loved fashion and the circular economy. Such a clever concept and such a fun way to experience my first Fashion Week show.

Thank you for having me @ebay_uk ✨

Autumn’s Monochrome.

Cream, tobacco, parchment and chocolate. A warmer take on monochrome for the season ahead, where interest comes through texture, material and subtle shifts in tone rather than colour.

Plus a few high street pieces I’m loving at the moment.

Ibiza site checks and endless inspiration 🤎

This is a project unlike anything I’ve worked on before. A beautiful house in Ibiza and the opportunity to create something that feels completely connected to its setting, drawing on the island’s incredible craftsmanship, natural materials and local makers.

We’re only at the very beginning, but I’m so excited to bring you along for the journey, from discovering local artisans and sourcing one-off pieces to watching the design slowly come together.

I have a feeling this is going to be a very special one. taken in Ibiza, Spain by @lorikooperman
