Leaning into the wobble of this piece which is called CRISS CROSS 3, and measures 15 x 13 1/2 x 4 3/8 inches. It was hand built using terra cotta clay.

It is, simultaneously, challenging and riveting to go through the process of working with earth, air, fire and water to make each piece. Hand built with terra cotta, dyed with dry powdered pigment to develop the pattern, and titled CRISS CROSS 2, this closed form measures 14 1/2 x 14 3/4 x 4 1/8 inches.

This closed form emerged from the kiln with the warm color of the clay body center stage. Hand built with terracotta and dyed with dry powdered pigment to create the pattern, it measures 15 x 12 1/2 x 3 1/8 inches, and is titled, CRISS CROSS 1.

The diagonals in the pattern are used to activate the overall vertical/horizontal design of this piece. It is called WINGS and measures 14 x 14 1/4 x 5 7/8 inches. The darker areas were created using powdered pigment that was wedged into the stoneware clay body.
