Muse Art Gallery presents Yumnah as part of ‘Cartographies of the Unseen’. Yumnah’s practice explores presence, belief, and realms beyond human perception, investigating the unseen connections between humans, jinns, and angels. Rooted in personal experience, historical narratives, and inherited knowledge, her work draws upon the formal and symbolic traditions of miniature painting to engage with metaphysical and spiritual inquiries. Working primarily with neem rang, gadh rang, handmade paper, and wasli, she creates compositions that evoke spirituality and stillness. The aged surfaces of handmade paper suggest forgotten or obscured knowledge, while halos, luminous figures, gold, and natural elements serve as symbols of the divine. Through figurative, abstract, and minimal forms, her work explores the relationship between the human and spiritual realms. Yumnah (b. 2003) is a Lahore-based artist and a graduate of Kinnaird College for Women University, where she specialized in Miniature Painting. She recently presented her thesis exhibition at Ejaz Art Gallery. Her previous exhibitions include The Summer Show at ArtSoch Contemporary and Microscopic Odyssey at Kinnaird College for Women University. She has also participated in the workshop ‘Botanical Drawings Inspired by Noor Jahani & Jahangiri Poetic Sciences’, conducted by Usman Saeed as part of BAGH, a collateral event of Lahore Biennale 03. Additionally, she contributed to the construction of Museo Aero Solar by Tomás Saraceno for the Lahore Biennale Foundation. ‘Cartographies of the Unseen’ brings together contemporary miniature artists whose practices explore the invisible dimensions of human experience, belief, memory, and the metaphysical.
