Trying to learn juggling while surfing. V hard I must admit. I’m going to miss having high ceilings and a rodeo line so much. Throwing triples in my living room is a huge luxury. Due to unfortunate circumstances I must move out. Such is life I suppose. Appreciate what you have while you have it ❤️. Grateful for some other things at the moment though so that’s good 🙏

So glad to have gotten this opportunity. What a wild couple days to have right after getting fired. Then shortly after I got two flat tires between Vail and Denver. Life’s a trip. Just happy to be riding the wave lately.

Life looks a little different these days
•
I’m so behind on photos. I take so many videos and photos that I can’t keep up with posting them. There are so many cool life events I am grateful for.
•
First off I want to thank @ahshift for always making me laugh. For being my best friend and pushing me always to be the best version of myself but to also accept and love myself for who I am. You seriously have helped me in so many unbelievable ways I am beyond lucky to have you in my life.
•
I got a new career thanks to @_skycowboy_ it’s hard to believe onboarding was only a few months ago. I feel like I’ve grown and changed so much in such a little time. I’m not sure I even know how to condense this job into a short paragraph. So much variety, amazing people, cool skills, and beautiful places to name a few of the fun parts. It has been also very challenging though and not all rainbows. Grateful non the less.
•
Holy shit I bought a car. Once again huge thanks to Kristin and to my parents for their guidance. This car is the car I have wanted for 10 years! Ever since I went off roading in one many years ago. It’s funny because I got it and then immediately flew away for 5 weeks 😂. Can’t wait to get back home and drive her ❤️
•
Also I cut off all my hair 😳 something I had been thinking about for a few years. Thanks to @ashtonchristopherhair for helping me commit to a new look. ❤️ it’s one of the ways I’ve been changing so much lately.
•
Been leading more trad and playing more MTG in person. Trying not to let fear stop me from getting out there and having fun. Thanks to lots of people but lately it’s been @littledog_jager and @shoguymoh for belaying me and helping me climb. As well as many others too!
•
Truly the last 6 months have been an incredible amount of change for me. It’s often hard to feel like I known who I am these days. It’s been almost all positive changes but also some sacrifices and some unwanted changes. It’s hard to have to adapt to so many things all at once. It really jumbles up my understanding of myself and my life. We’re making moves though and getting stronger, smarter and having fun ❤️💪.

Happy 35th Birthday Kristin!! You’re halfway through your thirties. Thank you so much for being my best friend and always encouraging me to push for the things I love in life. Your support is beyond helpful. We’ve only been together for a little over 1 year but man have we done a lot. You are my adventure buddy through and through. Sometimes I wish you enjoyed a little more suffering in our adventures 😂 but I do always appreciate how much you’ve pushed yourself in order for us to have cool memories. The way you always look out for me, keep me organized, and have my best interest at heart will never be forgotten. Here’s to another trip around the sun ☀️

The @indexchicago @cowply.jpeg @redskatemag event was super sick. The community is great and it was nice to run into old friends to catch up. This was my (Bones) first time at the new FB shop. The new park at the shop was really well designed and fun to skate. Played a few games of S.K.A.T.E. And really enjoyed dusting off the cobwebs 🕸️.

Part 3 — Devils Tower, Pitch 1 🧗‍♂️

This video starts where Part 2’s hook came from — the full clip of my foot getting completely stuck in the crack. What felt like fifteen minutes of panic was actually closer to three 😅
•
After I yelled down that my foot was stuck, Brandon calmly called up, “Can you PAS into a couple pieces and untie your shoe?” What I actually ended up doing was clipping my PAS into one piece, then using the rope to take on another placement so he could lower me until my chest was level with my foot.
•
Heart pounding, I untied my shoe and thankfully slipped my foot free. The relief was instant — followed by round two of fighting the shoe out of the crack. Eventually I got it back, retied, and kept climbing.
•
Because I bonked the GoPro backward in Part 2, most of this video angle isn’t great — but it still captures the moment and experience perfectly.
•
The rest of the pitch went smoothly, though it widened up and protection got sparse near the end. When I reached the anchors, the rest of our party was at the base of the next pitch about twenty feet over. Hearing their voices was a huge comfort and a really grounding moment. Then I belayed Brandon and Kristin up from the ground, and we all celebrated again once they joined me at the belay station.
•
I learned a lot making this little video series — both on the wall and in the edit. My audio work still needs love (wind 1 – me 0 ), but I’m excited to keep creating and sharing more of these small adventures.

Part 2 — Devils Tower, Pitch 1 🧗‍♂️

This video opens with a moment pulled from later in the pitch — my foot getting stuck.
•
The hand jams on this pitch were incredible. Secure, textured, and reassuring — the kind of jams that instantly quiet the nerves and make you think, “Oh yeah… this is why we’re here.”
•
Also I make to much noise for this route to only be 5.5….
•
Midway through the video my foot slipped, and my heart dropped. On lead, those tiny moments hit so much harder — it was a real reminder that managing your headspace is just as important as managing your gear.
•
I ended up accidentally smacking the GoPro on the wall, flipping it backward for the rest of the pitch. First time using a GoPro on my helmet. I kept forgetting it was there.
•
About halfway up the pitch, I turned and spotted about ten tourists watching from below. It made my nerves spike — being perceived while mentally vulnerable is not really my favorite. But it was also cool to feel that what we were doing looked wild from the outside.
•

Part 1 — Devils Tower, Pitch 1 🧗‍♂️

I spent all summer training with @ahshift to prepare for this climb — dialing in my mental game on gear, practicing placements, and taking baby falls to build trust. I’m so grateful for Kristin’s consistent belays and encouragement.
•
We flew into DIA and drove north toward Wyoming. The whole way, wildfire smoke lingered in the air. When we arrived at Devils Tower, it was still visible, though faint. Overnight, a cold snap rolled in and helped clear the skies — giving us surprisingly good conditions to climb.
•
We woke up very early on Friday (Sept 5th) and hiked in through chilling temps. It was slow going at first, bundled up and shivering, but by the time we reached the base the sun hit and warmed everything up. 55° in the sun at altitude felt super nice. Layers came off, and stoke went up.
•
There were a lot of people on route already — a total of around five parties — and we were the last two parties to get on. Our group was Kristin, Brandon and I. I led the first two pitches; after that I switched into seconding mode.
•
The climb we did was Durrance (5.7+), and the first pitch I’m showing here is Bowling Alley. Mountain Project calls it 5.5 PG13 — it felt more like 5.6 to me 🤷‍♂️
•
This video only covers Pitch 1 — it’s the only portion I have cohesive footage of. Even though our team made it up to about Pitch 6/7, a combo of time, weather, energy, and stoke caused us to call it there.
•
I’m proud of our effort, the learning, the laughs, and the safety we prioritized. And now that we know what to expect, we’re excited to maybe come back and try again.
