A little sneak peek of our final shoot at our Pymble project.

Captured a few months after completion and already many hours spent enjoying this epic new backyard by our clients.

Will share more photos and a project overview up on our website soon. by @lou.projects

Handing over the keys is always a good feeling. Part of it is seeing how pumped the clients are - but the other part is knowing all the hard work paid off.

It’s a short-lived moment for us though. We don’t get to live in these homes… but the photos and videos live on haha.

Ok here it is, I’m going to say it, one of my most informative video series yet.

Here’s a little teaser for the first introductory video, that’s up on our YouTube channel, explaining exactly what our pre-construction service is.

The full video explains how our pre-construction service works, what you can expect from us, and why skipping this step often leads to unnecessary cost, delays, and stress.

I highly recommend watching this video and hope it helps shed some light on what I know can be a very confusing and overwhelming part of building a home.

Link will be in our bio. And can’t wait to share part two with you soon! by @lou.projects

There’s something therapeutic about a demolition for me 😅

What would’ve taken 9 months to build if not more back in the day, has taken us a few days to pull down 🤷🏽‍♂️ by @lou.projects

A year and a half ago this was a pile of dirt. Here’s what it looks like now.

We started this shed a couple of years ago and have been chipping away ever since. It’s still not finished - the awning isn’t done, the kitchen needs overheads, I’ve got a sliding door to build. But if I waited for everything to be done I’d never post it.

As you’ll see in this video, the workshop is where most of the magic happens. The big plus here is we’re not dictated by the weather, anything repetitive gets prepped here and shipped to site, and all our fixings and tools live here so the boys grab what they need and go. That one thing has made us a much quicker and better builder.

Inside, the office was designed by Corinne from @pair_studio, even though we pivoted on some of the detailing to use what we already had. Out the back, the garden is by @markhillgardendesign. Herbs, tomatoes, a greenhouse, a little orchard, and somewhere for the team to sit and have lunch.

I treated our own job exactly like every other job - the right consultants, properly engaged in pre-construction. The right team from the start is the whole reason it came up this well.

Before and after at Pymble 👌🏾 swipe for the before.

The old verandah did the job, but it was closed in and a bit dark. The new ones a different world - floating roofline to let in the light and view, timber deck, concrete steps spilling out to the lawn and a kitchen built right in. The sort of space that gets used every day of the year. by @lou.projects

Here it is. We managed to actually hit record this time 😅

A quick little follow-up video explaining how we track all of our inventory against the right job budget once the materials have been taken from the shed and used on site. It’s all still a bit of a work in progress - we’re making slight changes to this process as we go - but the setup is mainly done now. Just little tweaks here and there to really get the efficiencies down pat.

Hope this gives you some ideas. Let us know in the comments if you have any questions 😊 by @lou.projects

Swipe for the before ➡️

This corner of @kamispacecc had a few possibilities on the table before it became the retail space it is now.

Hard to believe it’s the same spot - what was a cold, bare shell is now a warm and inviting entryway.

With that beautiful @polytec blonde oak joinery wrapping the space, custom built-in shelving, and @bolonofficial floor tiles laid in a checkered pattern, we reckon it landed just right👌🏽 by @lou.projects

Hey guys, Ineka here 🙋🏻‍♀️

We tried to film a follow-up video explaining how we’ve automated costing our prepaid fixings to the right job budget… and I accidentally didn’t hit record for a key part of it 🤦🏻‍♀️

So, naturally, we have to do it all again!

I did manage to capture some funny moments though 😂 So enjoy these for now, and we’ll have a new video ready to go next week. I promise! 🙌🏼 by @lou.projects

The sun is shining and so is this pool.

Those iridescent tiles shift with the light during the day, giving this new pool some lovely depth and movement.

No doubt this pool will see a lot of action this summer 🙌🏽 by @lou.projects

Is this a perfect bridle joint? Absolutely not. But that’s not really the point.

We shut the sites down for the day - spent the morning with @grow_shaunsullivan, doing stretching, breathing and a few mindset challenges, a lot of it about calming yourself down enough to make rational decisions when a site gets stressful. Then back to the shed for a joinery workshop.

The task was a bridle joint with a hand saw and chisels. It’s not about the easiest way to cut it - you could do it with a router or a table saw. It’s about learning to cut with precision, and working out that sometimes the hand saw or the chisel is genuinely the better tool rather than reaching for the trimmer every time. We all made a bunch of mistakes and worked through them, which is half the value of a day like this.

These days aren’t cheap - Shaun’s time, the workshop, seven or eight blokes not producing anything on site. But it’s investing time in the team and getting it back over the long run. Them feeling good about where they work, being more passionate and more precise about the craft. Less mistakes, more productivity. Win-win 👌🏽

While removing the need for a broker for a simple HBCF application is a good thing, not getting the right advice come review time could catch a lot of builders out.

We’ve had such a great experience working with Jay and the team at @seebusinesssolutions.

They took the time to really understand us, our business, our unique goals and where we’re at, and then put together a clear plan for the best way forward - broken down into steps and terms we could actually understand.

Having someone take the time to properly understand our business and give us a clear strategy has been incredibly valuable, and we’ve already seen a huge amount of value from working with them.

And just to be clear, this isn’t a paid advertisement - it’s a genuine recommendation for a business we actually work with and have personally seen the value in.

Couldn’t recommend Jay and the team more highly 🙌🏽 by @lou.projects
