Happy 70th wedding anniversary to my mom and dad today. ♥️ They met at the local Seaboard Lion’s Club Teen Dance on March 11, 1953, when they were sixteen. They married three years later on August 31, 1956, and yesterday we celebrated them and their lifelong love and commitment to each other with a reception at their home church. ♥️ (Daddy joked he hoped people would show up!) And we did. Their children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, childhood friends and the children of childhood friends. Sisters-in-law. Brothers-in-law. Old friends and church friends. Neighbors. ♥️ We were all there to celebrate the legacy and the testament of commitment and devotion—and yes, hard work—of living and loving together for seventy years. ♥️ Cheers to you, Dad and Mom! Yesterday may have been Father’s Day, but everyday I’m honored to be this man’s daughter. Today was “Farm Field Day” at the Seaboard Farmers Peanut Market. 🌽 Established circa 1976, the market has been farmer-owned and operated from the beginning, and my dad was one of the founding members those fifty years ago. 🌽 Today was a celebration for fifty years of continuous operation as a cooperative in rural America, complete with fair-like exhibits and displays, speakers, and food trucks—and more importantly, a loyal community of steadfast friends and neighbors. #farmersdaughter #farmersmarket #heritage #oldandnew farmerslife taken in Seaboard, North Carolina by @louanne.live
