Ce projet au Musée Carnavalet confronte l’intimité et la théâtralité du quotidien d’Édith Piaf.
À travers l’étude de ses sept appartements parisiens, l’exposition déconstruit le mythe pour tenter de révéler la femme. La scénographie plonge le visiteur dans un espace ambigü où décor et textile se répondent : le premier évoque la construction de son image publique, le second en dévoile les traces plus intimes.
Les sept appartements deviennent ainsi les fragments d’une enquête sur l'identité et le véritable chez-soi d'Édith Piaf, au-delà des lieux qu’elle a successivement habités.
