hello friends! soo i’ve been designing costumes for our debut play What We Have We Hold the past couple weeks, and i’m excited to announce that these four pieces of the design are available for commission!

i’m looking into how the commercialisation of costumes could improve the theatre experience for my fyp. i’d so appreciate it if you came to see it and let me know!;)

these particular costumes are the base of my design, inspired by fashion in the tenement housings in 1920s dublin. they were sustainably created using scrap materials from furniture, fruit bags and old clothes.

nuées / rita as cumulus

cumulus clouds are fluffy heaps of clouds with a cotton-like appearance. composed of a mixture of ice crystals and water droplets, they are usually found below 2km of altitude.

rita’s rounded movements incorporate the fullness of the cumulus cloud, amplified by the stuffed polyester dress.

masters thesis unlocked 🧑‍🏫 a co-design project with the one, the only @louisecartonn, the best ever as per usual 🫶

We wanted to design and market what is essentially a genderless fashion line for anyone and everyone that wants to look hot af tbh, which we’re planning on working on tons more in the near future ;)

Goal was to show how coding and creative AI can be used as a co-design tool, meaning that both, louise and myself, were involved in each other’s thought processes and design choices every step of the way 👣

Louise is the brain behind all the design concepts and original sketches, which are all the sketches on the pure white backgrounds in the post ✨the ones on the grey-ish backgrounds are generative sketches from the sketchbot I coded for her based on her own sketching style 🤖

All the designs in the pics are photorealistic renderings achieved through me fine-tuning AI models. They were trained on my photography to achieve the lighting conditions and textures, as well as general vibes, and louise’s and the generative sketches were used to achieve the final photo outputs 🤠 I also post-processed using photoshop to preserve the mannequin detailing from the og sketches 👍

all was done using only our own data for ethics purposes and to reduce energy consumption 🔌

Hoping this is a way to market small designers’ fashion more economically and ecologically by reducing the need for actual physical prototypes and big scale production / overproduction 🤷🏻‍♀️

nuées / ines as cumulonimbus

towering from 500m up to 21km in the sky, cumulonimbus clouds are dense and powerful formations. also know as thunderheads, they can unleash severe weather, including lightning, thunder, strong winds, heavy rain, hail and even tornadoes. when fully developed, these giants can extend through all three cloud regions. the expression ‘on cloud 9’ refers to being at the peak of a cumulonimbus, as they are the ninth formation in the cloud atlas classification. by @louisecartonn

asperitas clouds are the most recent formation to be recognised by the International Cloud Atlas. they appear as a ominous, undulating layer that ressembles the oceans surface looking from above.

félicia’s daunting and captivating movements and her organza silk gown make one to incorporate the mesmerising formation.

nuées / tamara as cirrus

cirrus are high-altitude clouds with a delicate, wispy appearance. composed of ice crystals, they are typically found between 4-20km from the ground. despite their ethereal and serene look, cirrus clouds play a crucial role in global warming as they cover 30% of the planet’s surface, creating a greenhouse effect.

tamara’s tulle gloves draw shadows of the feathery clouds on a ‘sunrise’ backdrop, incorporating the paradoxal beauty and darkness of the cirrus.
