You are all invited to come visit our exhibition called Works in Progress in Meadow Mills Project Space - as part of Open Studios : 26th& 27th Sep. Here’s our exhibition text and we hope to see you there! Welcome to our exhibition that shines a light on artworks that are progressing towards becoming something. The artistic process is rarely linear. We stop, start, reverse, twist and turn and oftentimes end up back where we started, usually not understanding their significance until much later, sometimes years. These works may be stepping stones towards a new body of work, a commission or previously unresolved objects that are now calling out for fresh attention. The pieces are offered not as shiny finished ‘exhibition ready’ artworks but rather as an insight into the mostly hidden, shy outcomes of experimental studio practice. The late great artist Dame Phyllida Barlow talked about the studio speculations, the kind of making that mostly goes unseen, as the noble artefacts of the studio. It is in that spirit that we present our artefacts in their rawest, unpolished and vulnerable state. Now open! sHift - a new exhibition by: Astrid Leeson | Bruce Shaw \ Lada Wilson | Louise Ritchie / Miriam Mallalieu | Paola McClure Gannochy Project Space Perth Creative Exchange Stromont Street Perth PH1 5NW running from 7- 30 August 2026 The exhibition brings together the Meadow Mill Curatorial Panel to exhibit work reflecting a range of approaches and forms of expression. The title Shift emerged from a discussion around movement, change and transition. It also refers to the practical shift that takes place when artists working in one Wasps studio building present their work in the gallery space of another. Visitors are welcome during the usual opening hours of Wasps Perth Creative Exchange: Monday to Friday, 9 am–5 pm. On 20 August 2026 at 5.30 pm, Lada Wilson will present a short performance. The Butterfly Effect - Louise Ritchie Some time ago in the towering halls of Piazza Publico in Siena, I was drawn to the motion of the sun and breeze filtering through a golden-ochre silk hanging, moving gently, as if breathing. That action stayed with me and a sunlit familiarity in the mill led me to making these large watercolour paintings that echo that experience. Rarefied silk, known as butterfly silk due to its fluttering motion, is propelled by the silent and unseen eddies in the space, blending the hues held in the weave as it overlaps and parts in the constant ebb and flow. This work and those of my 10 fellow artists is currently on show @the_mill_dundee in #between stone and sun from 12-5. Last day tomorrow! The artists of Between Stone and Sun are holding an Artists’ Dialogue this Friday 26 June, from 4.30-6.30pm. The discussion is being generously facilitated by Dr Dominic Smith, Senior Lecturer of Philosophy @@UoD. We artists will be in attendance to share our thoughts around the exhibition, and our work, with you, our audience participants. Testing crystal pigment layers this evening, for a forthcoming exhibition, on different weights of silk and watching the washes disappear amongst the finest of weaves of this 8 grams raw silk until you hold them up to the light. Friday evening studio and packing up the last of these cast resin & mica and jesmonite & bits of found objects to take to @dundeeuni archive collection to install in their lovely project celebrating some of the historic ‘heroes’ of the institution. Like little edible paintings these ‘sweeties’ are definitely not for consumption. More pics to follow about the making catalyst & chosen figure once installed and exhibition dates too.
