Exactly two years ago, these photos were taken.The day before, we had finally received our very first @thesing.berlin samples. Our plan was to present them at the Premium trade show in Berlin. But after asking just one day before, the organizers understandably couldn’t give us a booth.So I thought: fuck it.I drove 500 kilometers to Berlin anyway and, rather cheekily, set up right in front of the entrance to the fair, displaying our shoes on the street.That didn’t last very long.The organizers politely asked me to move, so I packed everything up and set up again about 50 meters further down the road.It was pouring with rain.Back then, we had no Instagram, no website, not even a brand name. I still couldn’t decide what to call it, and I wasn’t even sure if I wanted to use my own surname.Looking back now, I could never have imagined where we’d be just two years later.Today, we present our collections in Paris to buyers from all over the world. Our sneakers are available at FWRD and REVOLVE in the US, we’re stocked by some of Germany’s leading department stores, including Breuninger, with KaDeWe and Alsterhaus coming soon, and we now work with more than 25 retailers across Europe, Japan, and America.At the end of this year, we’re opening our first store on Torstraße in Berlin.We are still a long way from where we want to be.Sometimes I have to remind myself that I am actually living the dream I had as a kid.On the last slide, you’ll find a sneaker I sewed in 8th grade. I think that photo speaks for itself. This post is also a reminder to myself that you can achieve far more in two years than you think.The beginning is rarely glamorous. It is uncertain, uncomfortable, and sometimes it happens in the pouring rain.If you believe in something, do not wait until everything is perfect.Just begin. by @louisthesing
