How do you make articulation smoother than an import? You observe and experiment. Know your tools and materials. Understand the way they behave and interact through trial and error. A closer look at the Wolverine I drew by hand using only my 3dpen. A deceptive 9 pts of articulation on account of the barbells in the shoulders and neck. I used rubbery TPU for the connection points and made the pla limbs totally solid making this guy nearly indestructible. #xmen #marvel #3dpen #actionfigure #plasticityproductions A by @lousmer

Really been enjoying this show and have been in a bit of a making drought. Felt great to make such a cool artifact so quickly and simply. Much like a ring creating constructs, I use my 3d pen to bring my creative ideas into the real world.

On todays of episode of “I can’t keep w life so I’m just posting old stuff.” I take u back to @designercon like 15 years ago to when everyone was obsessed w dunny’s. Basically a blank funko pop w ears. Everyone and their mom was painting these up (mostly as various pop culture icons). I decided decorating one w my 3dpen wasn’t enough so I made my own completely from scratch. This allowed to add detail to the sculpt like scary eyes and teeth and some undies. My favorite parts are the broken heart and spike ball and chain. Nobody much cared because it didn’t look the same as all the others. But I didn’t mind then and now I value even more the inherent imperfections in my creations that make them distinctly hand and human made.

A long, long time ago I got sent out to a little toy convention called @designercon and met a man. A large man with a large beard with a large crowd of people around him trying to catch a bit of the large light that he shines wherever he goes. He noticed my art, expressed genuine interest and encouragement and offered to trade one of his figures for one of mine.
.
I immediately went back to my booth and freehanded this 5 poa (w flexible elbows and knees) knight on the fly using only my 3d pen. No plan no prior designing. Flow state. (The OG flow state knight??) Straight from my brain into my hands, and then to into his.
.
Other than family members and my grade school art teacher, that large man has been the most important inspiration and role model for doing what you love being the best way to spread love in this world. Those who know know immediately who I’m talking about. I like to imagine my figure on his shelf surrounded by his art and the art of others who he has inspired.

Observation is such an essential part of my creativity. I look and analyze things I like (or don’t like) and try to figure out how I can replicate (or what I would do differently). Then I just go for it.
In this case I was observing my cherished @Plunderlings figures and inspired by zombone’s skull mask I made a full, fully articulated plunderling skeleton with only my 3d pen. #3dpen #handmade #actionfigures #observation #plasticityproductions by @lousmer
