Had my mommy with me for Mother’s day today, and I couldn’t be happier. I will never have enough thank yous to capture just how grateful I am for my mom. My prayer when I left home at 18 was to go ahead to make the path a little smoother for you guys. My wildest dream was that you would see me enough to know that, and that maybe just maybe yall would follow in some capacity. One of the greatest gifts of my life is that one of those paths led to Spelman, and as a result you knew her name.

When you chose Spelman I couldn’t contain my excitement. I would’ve loved and supported you anywhere, but I know first hand what Spelman provides.

Now 4yrs later, I am so proud! I watched your many sleepless nights studying, sat through numerous venting sessions 🤣, rehearsals, studio sessions, sound-checks, artist development sessions, picked you up from airports only to drop you off in a few hours. You WORKED for this & your career simultaneously. That cannot be lost on you.

& when @spelman_college needed a beautiful voice or someone to launch their first domestic exchange program for the Music Department with @berkleecollege - they asked you! You went there & continued the work! YOU did it. All with such humility.

I thank God every day that you did it with your feet on the ground & chin up. That you did it with grit & with God! This is just the beginning. Happy birthday to my brother, my Twin, my buddy! For so much of our lives if you saw me, you saw him somewhere around lol! To know Jay is to absolutely love him. He isn’t gonna say much, but when he does you’re going to cry laughing. He’s gentle. Considerate. I don’t know a more loving human being! Empathetic, sensitive, stubborn hahaha but genuinely loving. So much of Dad is in you Jay. Your meekness, how you constantly want to do for others, your patience & understanding.. it’s so reminiscent of who Daddy was.

I’m praying that in God giving you direction this yr, that you’ll gain new perspective. That all of the love you so desperately want to give others- you give it to yourself! You deserve all the goodness this world has to offer, and you can go get it. I love you so much & Im so thankful to have you as my twin!! I’m right here pushing, rooting, rockin ALWAYS! Yall omg I had a beautiful post written up about how much my big brother has shaped me into the person I am today, but an incoming FaceTime call deleted it 😭😭

anyway, Frank 💙 half a century is crazy! I’m so thankful for you. The OG! So much of who I am when it comes to my love & understanding of songwriters, producers, lyrics, melodies.. so much of that has been sharpened by HOURS of convos going through credits with you. I’m 13 breaking down what JJ&TL did w/Bended Knee, or how Timbo & Pharrell are connected to Jodeci. Just random things that only r&b/hip hop nerds LOVE to talk about. If my fit is just right - that’s on Frank too. We might bump heads from time to time bc we’re both just about that life 😅😂 but more than anything we laugh, talk real life, and whether you know it or not.. I’m still listening & learning. Love you! Happy Birthday!!!

You might have seen some of this in my stories already, but a week ago today I stood in a room sobbing & singing my heart out. People keep asking, “Oh how was the Yebba show?” & my response has been the same- “One of the best shows I’ve EVER been to.”

Astyn is something so special. From the moment she walked on the stage w/her guitar we were captivated. I cried my left lash off. Partially bc her voice is sooooo sweet, songwriting is heart deep, but also bc I just felt so much love in the room for her, & I could tell she felt it too. Empath empathing. Nothing to see here 😭😭

As for Yebba, we knew what we were getting into.. but, man. Just beautiful. The jams, the vocal delivery, the musicality. We barely let her get a note in. These songs are apart of the soundtracks of our lives now. That’s what a show like this means. Real people, listening to songs over & over until they feel like they’re ours. Evergreen is so special to me, so I wept AGAIN ( right lash..off.)😭

It was just one of those shows. You had to be there. If you weren’t, here are some beautiful moments. Please excuse me & Madys singing through everything. 🤣

I’m so thankful to experience artistry like this. Thank you Astyn, Yebba, & the entire tour. Woooosh 🤍
