Julimar learned entire albums by heart growing up in Venezuela. Now she writes and raps mostly in Spanish, moving between reggaeton, Raptor House and amapiano without worrying about whether any of it fits a trend.

In Portland, she and Perreo Princess are building Flow Tropical to make space for the Latin dance music they want to hear. We talked about how Julimar found her voice, the work behind her songs, and what she hopes people feel when they come to a show.

“Dude, did we just make a banger?”

That was Buballoo’s reaction after he and Akhil John sent out “Body” and started seeing downloads from DJs they listen to. Nilan talks about the UK records that pulled him into production, teaching himself how to produce after work, and what he and Akhil are making next. His description of the next EP track: “if Beking and MPH basically had a baby.”

The Prodigy with Carl Cox, Andy C, Yukimatsu, Scarlxrd and David Rodigan. That Warriors Dance lineup alone deserves a conversation.

We look at their place in rave history, the loss of Keith Flint, the return that began in 2022, and the momentum they’re building now. Plus their 2026 Acid Thunder remix of Sleaford Mods and Aldous Harding’s “Elitest G.O.A.T.”

What was the first Prodigy track that got you?

He did.

Some of EDM’s biggest names want the phones down. Would you go to a phone-free show?

Skrillex’s Gas Works Day Party covered cameras at the entrance. John Summit has talked about how constant filming makes it harder to let loose. Jayda G points to the disconnect when being seen at a show matters more than enjoying it.

And you don’t have to wait for a headliner to make a rule. Support your local venues, smaller shows, and the nights where everyone’s too busy dancing to film.

A quick clip, camera stickers, or phones locked away: where do you stand?

domenique. found her sound by refusing to hide.

Private journals became poems, then songs. Heavy bass, hyperpop, and spoken word gave those words somewhere to go.

“Now I don’t sound like anyone else.”

In our new artist spotlight, she talks about trusting her taste, making work that feels like her, and the trans music community around her in Portland.
