So I have been working a lot on custom artwork. A lady reached out and asked if I could paint another portrait of the grey dappling but with bigger spots in remembrance of her childhood horse, Domino. It was so fun to go back and see what techniques I’ve changed in the last year. I’m happy to say that even though the progress is slight, I do see some improvement. Coming out of a 8 year break from painting has been a challenge but so rewarding. I’ve stepped back and taken a break from painting to focus more on my family. It feels good to have a painting to work on. This isn’t a genre of painting I’ve ever attempted. Some of you probably don’t know this, but I used to breed Silkie chickens. I loved their goofy and gentle personalities and it was so fun to witness hatching time. It got a little out of hand and at one point had more than 150 chickens in my garage and a couple of tiny coops in the backyard. I decided I should paint one. Maybe one days I’ll get back into the chicken business, but for now enjoying them through painting will have to do. They make terrific pets and love to be held and cuddled.
