One day they’re right there; the next, they’re not.

The Baxter in Love, Baxter was our dog.

Our boy. Our Boston Terrier. We lost him on October 28, 2024. His name is on all of this because we started building it while we were missing him.

Sophie is 16 and a half. There’s medication, there’s food we make for her, and most nights there’s the middle of the night. She keeps every single day eventful, and she has a mind of her own about all of it.

So when the poem above says 3 a.m. and a pill hidden in the only thing they’ll eat, that’s our kitchen right now. We’re grieving one dog and taking care of another one at the same time, and we’ve been doing both for almost two years.

Whatever part of it you’re in, Love, Baxter is yours.

It was never just the pet you were holding on to.
