If you suddenly and unexpectedly feel joy, don’t hesitate.

Give in to it.

There are plenty of lives and whole towns destroyed or about to be. We are not wise, and not very often kind. And much can never be redeemed.

Still life has some possibility left. Perhaps this is its way of fighting back, that sometimes something happened better than all the riches or power in the world. It could be anything, but very likely you notice it in the instant when love begins. Anyway, that’s often the case. Anyway, whatever it is, don’t be afraid of its plenty. Joy is not made to be a crumb.

dust made animate by light

Being broken into a million pieces by something more powerful and mysterious than yourself can sometimes put you back together in miraculous ways as the light hits.

These lakes are illuminated by the light reflecting off of glacial rock particles hit by the sun.

Grassi Lakes is tucked away in the Canadian Rockies like a treasure made over millennia, ancient reefs turned into mountains.

These are the words above my head as I walk onto “Main Street, U.S.A.”, a place of nostalgia, an invitation to be present in childlike wonder, & also a wish for the future. My mind kept going back to other places in the US like El Paso & San Diego (Barrio Logan). How wonder is there too and how real community doesn’t exist behind a pay wall.

The most magical part of Disneyland & my time in California was the gift of being around beautiful souls & getting to see how they are living into their purposes in all the best ways. @itsmisstania @jackyliciouss @timaaaah_ogun thank you for being such wonderful friends & sharing your lives with me 🥹

Chicano Park in San Diego remains a museum without walls to remember and represent the resilience and beauty of the indigenous community and memory of the Barrio Logan community.

As I have traveled to the edges of this country I am reminded time and time again that the history of each place is much older than 250 years. It is an honor to see the beauty of the community and land and to hear the stories of people whose lives are shaped by borders. by @lovebkjoy

Over a year ago, I was in the borderlands, on the holy edges that are actually the center and the heart of the passage of America.

The name speaks of its purpose, El Paso — the pass to the north, as if we are all meant to be connected. The crossroads of trade routes run right where we sat for lunch in La Hacienda. The river has been bent and rerouted in concrete and wire, but it always remembers.

The mourning doves take rest on the power line & then take flight over the knife that cut through the heart of the land.

This past year I have felt sorrow and joy take up home in my chest. The ache that this world is not as it should be and the awe that so much beauty exist here too.

Maybe your holding this too? The beauty and the pain coexisting in your heart. Perhaps it is in the tension that we find ourselves, our people, & God. Perhaps that is the grand crossroads of our humanity that leads us into our purpose. by @lovebkjoy

Welcome Mirabella (Mira), the newest addition to the Arise Ranch family ☀️

She is a yearling whose life is a miracle and a testament to what can happen when people step in to see the unseen and believe in the possibility of life/flourishing.

Her journey began with Twisted Mane Rescue and I am so deeply grateful for all the love and care Jen and the volunteers @twistedmanerescue gave to her. It has been a joy to know Mira since she was around a month old and I can’t wait to share more of her story.

Stay tuned - this is just the beginning of her beautiful journey & she is SO loved already! by @lovebkjoy
