This second one I made with silk yarn n opted for a shorter length and no center split. Is this more your cup of tea or the orange one? I like both, they give different vibes. This top is a "free pattern" shared on XHS where it is basically made up of 3 rectangular panels i.e. 1 big panel for the back and 2 half panels for the front. The stitch used is dc in front loops only. It is NOT my design. As promised, I am sharing here how I made it with some improvising like the sc edge on top for seaming the shoulders and how I seamed the sides to make it looks seamless. The advantages of this design is you can do whatever you like - yarn, hook, no swatch required, any length, etc etc. You choose how wide you want the neck opening to be, how deep a neckline to show your cleavage or not, center hem split or side hem split or maybe the back longer than the front, it's your choice! The seasoned crocheter can fly with this by themselves, the pics are more to guide the beginners. Hope you have fun making this as much as I did. I was so excited when Spring from @springsfantasy asked me to try her new yarn spinner! Long dress, short dress, with or without lace, cropped top, normal top, peplum top with lace, fitting top, loose fit with ribbed armholes and hem, ombre, striped, 2 colours, multi colours, solid colour, etc etc. The only limitation is your imagination. As I was making this 3rd one, I realised I over-think the math so now I need to revise some stuff. And since I am doing that, I am gonna keep the test call open till Sunday! The math with this made-to-measure design is definitely challenging so I am looking for testers to help to test that the math really works. Skill level - minimally Intermediate and able to read charts. Key Dates - Application closes on 6 Sept (Sunday) (could be earlier or later depending on responses) - Pattern sent out to testers on 7 Sept (Monday) - Test due on 1 Nov (Sunday) Yarn and Hook - As this is made-to-measure, you can use any yarn and the recommended hook size for that yarn. For reference, the ones I made are as follows: Usual size - S Dress - mercerised cotton yarn, 382g, 1659m, 3.5mm hook. I am naming this #Commencement to since I made it and wore for our eldest boy's graduation. I made the top with a fitting lower body but like the dress, it can be made flared like a peplum top and can be in lace stitches too. Let me know what you tjink about it! I had this ombre yarn for a long long time that I just wanted to make a dress out of it. And so I did but only after frogging it a couple of times to finally nailing it! Even the one that was frogged was also ripped a couple of times... The frogging and rewinding the yarn were definitely no fun but better that than a dress made and not liked to be worn. What would you have done? I like the final design and I am making a top out of it too. The dress is flared but the top is fitted.
