Sometimes the most beautiful thing about a community is watching neighbors show up for one another. ♥️

Today, an incredible group of volunteers came together to help Sebastian, an elderly disabled neighbor in need, clean up his yard and lighten a burden he couldn’t carry alone.

There was a whole lot of hard work, generosity, teamwork, and kindness poured out today ~ and it was beautiful to witness.

A huge thank you to everyone who gave their time, energy, muscles, encouragement, and heart to serve. And thank you to EDCO for generously donating a dumpster to help make this project possible.

La Mirada really is rich in heart. ♥️

What a truly Beautiful Day of Service 💛

Yesterday, our community showed up BIG for Love La Mirada’s 2nd service day of the year — and what a day it was! Volunteers spread out across the city, rolling up their sleeves, getting dirty, sweating, smiling, and working hard — all for others.

We painted 3 homes, power washed two more, and provided landscaping at five homes for senior citizens in need. Many of these seniors are facing serious challenges — illness, grief, limited income — and our volunteers’ work helped them avoid fines, lifted burdens, and reminded them they’re cared for.

We also had a mighty crew cleaning up two parks, painting horse trails along Imperial Hwy, and giving the Oak Creek Park bridge a stunning new rich brown color!

(Big thanks to Councilman Otero @aaotero35 for literally getting in the water to tackle the toughest part of that bridge!)

And while one project had to be canceled, one incredible volunteer refused to let it go — she single-handedly landscaped the slopes near Dulles Elementary. 💪

We even took a quiet moment to sit with a beloved community member in her grief — reminding her that she’s not alone, that this city loves her and is with her.

These events always bring out the best people: those with big hearts, calloused hands, and joyful spirits — people who wake up at dawn on a Saturday to serve their neighbors and make La Mirada shine a little brighter.

Thank you to everyone who came out — whether it was your first time serving or your second round with us this year — your heart and hard work made a difference. 💚

And finally, a huge thank you to our incredible sponsors who made both of this year’s service days possible — your generosity helps turn compassion into action and keeps the spirit of Love La Mirada alive and thriving. 🌟
