Chicago is turning purple again. 💜🏙️

For the second year, Love & Protect Wisdom is raising awareness of domestic violence through a purple illumination of Chicago’s skyline, October 23–29.

Join us during this special week for our Tower Over Domestic Violence fundraiser at VU Rooftop! Enjoy elevated appetizers, good music, a silent auction, and an evening with a purpose.

This year, we’re raising funds for TLC: The Love Continues, our initiative supporting children and young adults who have lost a parent or primary caregiver to domestic violence homicide.

What an unforgettable night! The Tower Over Domestic Violence Fundraiser was more than an event — it was a movement. Together, we illuminated the Chicago skyline in purple to honor survivors/victims and raise awareness for domestic violence prevention.

LPW is encouraging Chicagoans to become part of the campaign by placing purple lights in windows or illuminating homes, storefronts, offices, churches, schools and other visible spaces between October 23 and 29. by @loveprotectwisdom

Glow and Grow with @loveprotectwisdom was a powerful reminder of why investing in young people matters. As Director of Programs, it was deeply fulfilling to debut the new Grow the Balloon workshop and see it so well received, with youth thoughtfully naming what care, respect, and healthy relationships should look like in their lives. I also had the chance to purchase a book from a young author @maleahsstoryworld, which was another reminder that when we create spaces that affirm young people, their brilliance rises to the surface. That is at the heart of Everyday Educators: building culturally grounded experiences that turn youth voice, creativity, and insight into lasting impact. by @loveprotectwisdom

Today we proudly celebrate our Executive Director, Loné Williams, for being honored by the American Red Cross as a Community Impact Hero for her work addressing domestic violence in Chicago.

After losing her mother to domestic violence in 2023, Loné turned unimaginable pain into purpose by founding Love & Protect Wisdom (LPW). What began from personal loss has grown into a movement dedicated to healing, awareness, and prevention for survivors and families impacted by domestic violence.

Through LPW, Loné and our team provide critical support including:

• Free therapy for survivors and their families
• Emergency care kits and safety resources
• Court transportation and advocacy
• Financial assistance for temporary housing
• Youth workshops focused on healthy relationships and violence prevention

While this recognition honors Loné, she often reminds us that the real heroes are the survivors who find the courage to speak up and seek help, and we also honor the victims whose lives were tragically taken by domestic violence.

We are deeply proud of our Executive Director and grateful to the American Red Cross for recognizing the work being done to support survivors and their families.

Loné, your strength, compassion, and leadership inspire all of us. 💜
