Lovers Leap Guides was founded in 2003 by Marc “Petch” Pietrolungo, but the roots go deeper. Petch moved to Strawberry in 1993, fell in love with the Leap, and built a life around this stone.

Today, we’re still a small, community-based guide service—the only true local guides at Lovers Leap. Our team of five AMGA-certified guides has been climbing and working together for years. When we’re not guiding, we’re out on the rock, deepening our craft and our connection to this place.

A deep love of climbing runs through all of us. We’re a diverse crew committed to teaching real skills, building confident climbers, and caring for the landscape that gives us so much.

This isn’t just where we guide.

Birthday Challenge #27!!
Zeke turned 27 on Friday and for his birthday he wanted an experience. He signed up for our Birthday Challenge day to climb 27 pitches! We ended doing 29 with over 3,000 feet of climbing in 10 hours!!!

Tahoe Season is On 💪🏼

If you want to climb the best pitches on the HWY 50 corridor then book a weekend with Lover’s Leap Guides.

I did! And it was the best first day ever.

We climbed 12 of the most classic pitches at Sugerloaf before 3pm. It was awesome.

If you haven’t climbed with the owner Petch, he is a granite wizard who likely climbs more pitches per year then everyone at your gym put together.

I look FORWARD TO doing a birthday challenge with Petch later this year.

Lars came to Lover’s Leap with a goal: climb some routes he hadn’t done before. We put together a great mix of new-to-him climbs and finished the day on one of the Leap’s all-time classics—Bear’s Reach!
