Join us on May 24 from 6:00-9:30 PM at FCCW for a night of art, community, and political education!

- Program begins at 6:30 *swipe for full schedule*

This event will uplift the power of literacy as a tool to resist the violence of the carceral state, featuring system-impacted speakers, performers, artists, and prison justice organizations. We are proud to partner with LA County Library’s Books for Jails program to collect books that will go directly to people incarcerated in LA County jails.

The Los Angeles County system is the largest jail system in the nation, incarcerating nearly 13,000 people at any given time—many of whom may await trial for years. But there is no formal library system in LA County jails, and access to educational resources remains extremely limited. We are a collective of students, activists, and scholars committed to expanding access to reading materials for people who are incarcerated, given that increased literacy is proven to reduce recidivism rates and support successful reentry. More broadly, we hope to build community and share resources, planting seeds to transform a punishment-centered culture into one rooted in restorative justice and collective care.

Hello! We're raising funds for our friend Amr and his family through an art raffle that will be held on this page from September 27th - October 27th.

Tickets are $5 each and you're welcome to buy as many tickets for as many items as you'd like. Multiple tickets give you a better chance at winning the item(s) you bid on. See the second slide for more info on how to enter. Winners will be chosen at random and contacted after the raffle closes.

All proceeds will be donated to @amr.hateem.pal, his sister @lana.hateem and their family.

Click the link in our bio to donate a raffle item (i.e. art, goods, or services). We're accepting submissions for raffle items until October 6th.

DM us with any questions :)

❤️Please read and share, donation link in my bio❤️
minimum donation amount on gofundme is 5$
but if u cant do that anything counts so you can venmo me @Karina_2000 and i’ll send it over to the go fund me as a lump sum. -and will post receipts!

Naim is a university graduate from Khan Yunis in Palestine, currently seeking asylum in Germany. His family of seven siblings and both parents are still in the Gaza Strip. Their home and the blacksmith shop owned by Naim’s father were both completely destroyed by an occupation aircraft, leaving them to experience displacement and .extreme living conditions

Naim asks that we widely share and donate to his GoFundMe in order to bring his family to safety as soon as possible. With a financial goal as large as his, any amount is valuable! His link is in my bio.

Naim’s main Instagram account was disabled simply for raising awareness for Palestine. Because of the constant censorship and lack of an outside support system, he’s had a hard time getting his story published. Do not let him be silenced! @naim_shakshak.97
